I think it's actually an African elephant. As if that makes it better of course...

Of course it is if you create your own animal taxonomy based on some random definition of the word "kind".
I just wonder how long it took for the camels to getting peed off with the lion and gorilla crapping and slashing on their heads.

Looking at the Bible story book I was mildly impressed that they removed all the nightmare inducing graphic imagery that is prominent in other children's books published by them.
Still plenty of room for the stereotypical Caucasian Adam and Eve....
... lots of nonsense about the Flood...
....burning destruction of hundreds of people...
`
... some iron age justice...
... and unkeepable promises about the Paradise...
So no real change there...

Humourous reactions to beards worn at the kingdom Hall
by UnshackleTheChains inis this the reaction you get when you walk into a kingdom hall sporting your new beard 🙄.

Beards are now so common I really don't think they can be considered a sign someone is not toeing the line in other respects.

Major changes to convention security beginning in 2017
by Edison Trent inshort info on interesting changes to the major conventions this year: there will be a new security concept that will be implemented at all regional conventions in 2017.. similar to other major events (e.g.
festivals, concerts), there will be admittance controls in stadiums.. - at each entrance, there will be a massive presence of attendants that look at each visitor.. - there will be pocket checks at the entrance.. - suspicious persons are no longer left on the convention grounds.. - suppliers to the stadium will be intensively inspected by attendants.. - there will be a special sign for attendants that must enter the stadium before 7.30 am.
all others (even all attendants) can only enter after 7.30 am..

I say again this is essentially old news in the U.K. We had to attend a day long "training" event 20 years ago and be told about our duties or not be allowed to attend. The need for an increasing number of brothers to have certain secular certification has been growing over the more recent years. Bag searches have been around for at least two years. I've not been an attendant for some time now and not aware of the detail but I know from others how much has been required in the recent years past.

Tattoos In the Kingdom?
by Cold Steel inwith tattoos becoming ever more popular in today's culture, i couldn't help but wonder what happens when people with ostentatious tattoos seek baptism?
are they admitted?
many don't have the money to have them removed, yet i can't imagine they'd be allowed to do pioneer work.

There is nothing stopping anyone with a tattoo from pioneering or being baptised.

2017 Convention Video To Be Shown Regarding The 1975 Failure
by pale.emperor inhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=go3arnnsfkk&feature=youtu.be.
no mention whatsoever that it was watchtower themselves that strongly hinted towards this date.
instead they blame those who "put their trust in a date, not jehovah".. let's recap... .

I can't believe the WTS came up with this script knowing the wealth of content out there demonstrating that the whole idea of 1975 was seeded by some (at best) very leading statements that encouraged thinking on a short timeline. The 1974 KM quote is gold considering what the narrator says about selling up.
It's almost as if there was someone awake writing this stuff but rather sobering to think that far more likely is the notion that the writers are actually so deeply in that this type of irony is so far over their heads to register in the least.

The Ultimate Conversion
by Etude inone thing that surprised me shortly after joining this site was the number of individuals who, after experiencing the deception of being a jw and the hypocrisy of the “truth”, switched to being catholic or “born-again” evangelists.
it seemed to me like jumping from the hot pan into the fire.. i don’t want to piss anyone off for his or her choices.
i feel everyone is free to believe what they may.

It takes time and courage to hold everything up to honest scrutiny. I'm always a bit puzzled by anybody who goes straight from JW to unbeliever. Did they ever actually believe?
I certainly did however when the JW doctrine started to unravel I just followed things to their logical conclusion - i.e. there was no evidence for the existence of any kind of deity, least of all one with some kind of real interest in humankind.
As Simon says, I was already convinced that other religions were false.
It took maybe no more than 6 months to deconstruct things once I really started looking properly.
