Short info on interesting changes to the major conventions this year: There will be a new security concept that will be implemented at all regional conventions in 2017.

Similar to other major events (e.g. festivals, concerts), there will be admittance controls in stadiums.

    - At each entrance, there will be a massive presence of attendants that look at each visitor.

    - There will be pocket checks at the entrance.

    - Suspicious persons are no longer left on the convention grounds.

    - Suppliers to the stadium will be intensively inspected by attendants.

    - There will be a special sign for attendants that must enter the stadium before 7.30 am. All others (even all attendants) can only enter after 7.30 am.

    I hope I'm deemed a "suspicious person!"

Sounds impractical. What country are your referring to?

I highly doubt anything like that will be implemented in the US.

On the other hand, it would surely slow down the mass stampede for seats at 8:00:01 AM.

It was already the case in Paris last summer. We spent 25min in line to wait for the bag check.

@sir82: My information is that this is an worldwide change requested by the GB. In recent years this was already the case, for example in russia.

    @fifth.column: 25 min. Every day?

Interesting but didn't they already start to implement this? If you don't wear a convention badge, you're going to be questioned before they let you in. Lots of security last year. When I was an attendant and they told us to keep our eyes out for suspicious persons. Several attendants were security detail.

Pocket checks? Really? I doubt this.

Also where did you hear this from?

    25 min. Every day?

? You think that was too long or too short for the security lines at the Paris Convention?

I understand the convention took place a week or so after this had happened:

"If you don't wear a convention badge, you're going to be questioned before they let you in"-

I thought they wanted the public to come to these things? If they treat people like that because they don't have a 'badge' it won't seem very friendly will it? what? no love bombing at conventions?

Seems like cancer scanners and gropers are coming to the Grand Boasting Session. And for what? Priming the soul to accept all manner of hardship. Poverty, health problems, threats of persecution for nothing--all so joke-hova can ensure you will never have prosperity or happiness again on your journey to enslavement.

I don't think jws will be allowed to search people unless they are authorized, like the police, or in an airport like the TSA.

What makes you suspicious? Who escorts them out if deemed such? jws? I think not. Most facilities rented by jws larger gatherings have their own in-house security. JW security has no legal authority and must call either non-jw in-house security or the police.

I was in law enforcement for 8 years and if I still were and still a jw, I would ask them politely under what secular authority can the do this. Even when I go to Disney, they can't touch my purse, I just open it and let them look inside. Now I don't carry much, just a little side wallet on my belt.

I'd be interested in anyone else directly involved in this security and how they are trained and/or instructed so to stay within the law. Pretty offputting for an "interested" person.
