My bet is that they will steer clear of trying to interpret more and more prophecy. They've been burnt so many times and enough people are happy with doing carts, going happy clappy and watching JW Boredcasting....

How Long it will take to the GB change the interpretation of the Beast as the UN?
by Ray Frankz ini just realized now, (ironically by checking on jw.org) that the echr (european court of human rights), the government agency that has been literally saving the jws to be banned in so many countries - and they are very thankful for that, as they say in their recent purple history book - is an agency of the un!.
as it is well known, the gb consider the un as a high-class enemy of god's kingdom, believing it is the beast mentioned in revelation.
this interpretation was totally from f. franz and n. knorr, this last one still being reagarded every now and then as the one who gave the speech with this "new light".

Do You Think Jehovah's Witnesses Are Typically Ignorant People?
by minimus ini think most witnesses are simple minded.many are ignorant.
there are a lot of basically "good people "in the religion but i believe many are kind of dumb, including many elders.
do you agree with my thoughts??

There are Witnesses with all levels of intellectual capability. Some are genuinely thick but most aren't even if they are not highly educated or even academic.
Plenty of Witnesses have well paid, white collar jobs that are far from menial roles. Plenty have good businesses. I have know plenty enough who read lots, are interested in the arts and culture, have a reasonable knowledge the sciences and so on.
What most mentally in Witnesses lack however is the willingness to question and investigate beyond the boundaries set by the WTS. For some this is an intellectual challenge for others it's the application of cognitive dissonance.
For example, a Witness may have an interest in the sciences and the intellectual capability to understand some complex aspects of physics, chemistry and biology yet simply discards all the material that presents a worldview contrary to the simplistic world of the Bible. They are conditioned to replace nagging questions with an approach of "leaving it to Jehovah". What's worse is some go further and employ pseudo intellectual nonsense to make it seem like they employed critical thinking skills and are not simply dismissing things without serious thought.
This can be considered "wilful ignorance" but for most it's simply cult conditioning that they really don't question. Like an addicted alcoholic they don't realise they have a problem and it's only when they wake up to that fact that they then make the choice to remain wilfully ignorant or seek to change their behaviour when confronted with information contrary to their JW viewpoint.

Apostasy: The Movie - Directed by Daniel Kokotajlo
by darkspilver indaniel kokotajlo's new film apostasy has it's world premiere at the toronto international film festival in september 2017. apostasy.
family and faith come into conflict for two jehovah’s witness sisters in manchester, when one is condemned for fornication and the other pressured to shun her sibling.. this fresh, unadorned first feature from director dan kokotajlo carries an unmistakable note of authenticity from its very first scenes.
set in a jehovah's witness community in england, the film's strength and power lies in its directness.. apostasy depicts the growing rift in a family — a mother and two daughters — who are rigorously devoted to their religion.

Didn't realise that Dan Kokotajlo was raised a Witness. That should help with the authenticity of the film.
It's a very interesting subject but a shame that 99% of Witnesses will either never hear of it or not be prepared to see it as they would view it as apostate lies. Therein lies the irony...

WOW! This should be a quality film. It's got an experienced cast and a proven director. Siobhan Finneran, especially, is an excellent actress and has played many tough roles.
I hope the research is good and that there are not too many holes for the faithful to pick at as this could be a really powerful exposé of the reality of disfellowshipping and the internal dilemmas that the practice enforces on people.

2018 Circuit Assemblies Talk Outlines

Thanks for that Wifi. Typical bore-fest.
I did note one thing in one of the talks (can't recall which one now) in a demo where someone talks about making a response to some "lies" on a blog. The other person in the demo tells them to ignore it and not respond to the "lies" once again reinforcing the line that anything critical is (a) untrue and (b) is not even worthy of any investigation.
So much for being able to exercise personal choice and critical thinking.

Over 300 DFed apparently went to a northern U.K R.C!
by Isambard Crater inthat's what i've been told by a family member (elder) who went to one of the regional conventions in the north of the u.k lately, who told me the 300 or more disfellowshipped who returned to jehovah by attending show that the end is so close, just like the final talk says..

If this rumor about the high return of DF'd ones is true...
100% sure it's not. 300 DFed people returning to a convention. No way. 300 DFed people would be 3 or 4 per congregation attending. Not. A. Chance.
This is at best 300 (and it might not even be that high) people who didn't bring badges for one reason or another getting told to report to the attendants office and get one. The majority of them would have been dubs who didn't get one, unbelieving mates, studies, inactive ones and so on. Some would have been Dfed for sure but a small minority.

Relaxed rules toward oral sex?
by Socrateswannabe inthese people won't state anything definitively, but here's an excerpt from the study article entitled "making christian marriage a success", in the august, 2016 watchtower.
it does make me wonder.. although the bible does not provide specific rules about the kinds and limits of love play that might be associated with natural, sexual intimacy, it mentions displays of affection.
(song of solomon 1:2; 2:6) christian marriage partners should treat each other with tenderness.

Note the qualifying use of the term "natural". Whilst this paragraph does leave far more scope for interpretation it could still be twisted to say whatever someone wanted it to say.
Having said that, I do think that there is far less appetite within the org for elders to needlessly pry into private affairs between two married people.

Interesting point about the CO route being a dead end. Nowadays all they can hope for is to be used for schools then inevitably farmed back out to the congregation in their late 50s, early 60s to toil as a pioneer with hardly a thank you, let alone a nice golden handshake.
Spending one's life in Jehovah's service is hardly the glittering alternative to a worldly career that it was once made out to be.

TBH, I think a lot has to do with the LOCATION.
This is true however it doesn't stop the club doing pat down searches of everyone attending a football game there - up to 33k people as opposed to <10k dubs. While they both need security - the level and type of security will be different - as this thread has shown.
From other reports it would seem some venues were more serious in how they took security than others which is slightly odd as normally the WTS is pretty consistent in how it applies instructions so I am a little surprised the attendants are Brighton were not more vigilant but hey ho...If you include everyone not an active publisher - DF, family pressured ones and the socializers 300 is a reasonable number.
Yup - I guess 300 such people across 10k or so is reasonable even if pretty time consuming to process.
