What's Your Scenario For The Watchtower Corporation's Business Future? Will They Survive Much Longer In This Information Age?
by frankiespeakin inthe internet a marvel of modern science, mass communication, information at your finger tips is transforming peoples lives.
but alas the whole thing took the governing body by surprise as they continued to pin their hopes on childishly magical and wishful thinking bible interpetations.. the train has left the station and the governing body are just now comming to terms with it(the internet), while they still demonize it for its freeing power, and plethora of information that doesn't fit with their narrow world view they must still navigate a path that includes or give some recognition to this information source now becomming availible to all all over the world.. how will the watchtower survive all this and still be directed by a bunch of delusional old and odd geezers is beyound me to comprehend.
what say you?.

They are i- Pad Nutty Now
by Poztate inso many at my wife's hall have rushed to buy i-pads,androids etc for use in servicetm and at the hall.. most know little or nothing about how to use them but have joined the stampede to jw.org tm and the reinvention of the wtbts.. it prompted one elder at my wife's hall to have a seminar at his house to explain how to use them in service and at the hall.. how exciting.... one 80 year old pioneer woman will be there with her new toy.. as a distraction it seems to be working quite well.
no need to worry about 1914 or other issues.. they are all nuts and getting nuttier....

They had a video at the hall the other night showing how to use tablets on the ministry. They then spoke about the young ones helping train the older ones to use them in the ministry.

Rumor: New light comes from outside marketing consultants

They may full well bring in some non dub consultants on some aspects of the change program being run as well as investment/financial mangement. I can accept that some of this may even look at factoring the maximum income from the least contributors.
That is not the same as bringing in specialists to help them work out how best to dupe 8 million people and fleece the religion.

A serving elder's take on the new "tithing" arrangement
by TTATTelder inthe gb can kiss my ass.. i'm writing "0" on the little slip of paper they pass out.. hey here's a thought:.
you know that "widow's might" stuff they're always talking about?
well i'm pretty dang sure that the lady was giving from the heart not because she filled out some dumba$$ piece of paper pledging two small coins several months previous!.

It does not matter what you put on. No one is going to chase you up. There is no one, human or otherwise, who will take offense at your lack of ability to keep some "vow". If there is not enough money each month then there will be a local needs talk on keeping your vow.
The only risk you have is if you do a protest response and get found out as an appointed man.
It's all bollocks and does not matter.

Conspiracy theory and almost certainly rubbish.
However... I do know there are some very savvy and influential elders who have been encouraging more rapid change and progressive view of things like the internet, modern technology and more corporate ways of thinking in lots of areas including the RBC. How do I know this? It's hard to say without running the risk of revealing my identity however I will say that this comes from a friend of ours who has a family member working at a high level in Bethel along with another old aquaintance, a Bethel Elder, who has worked at Bethal in a senior role in construction for a long time.
So, the change is being influenced outside of the GB. Some of the influencers are corporate but very much in the fold from what I know. I don't think these people promoting the sort of changes described above and certainly not for the reasons described. Their influence, from the snippets I get to hear, is in technology, moving things to a more modern corporate parallel and promoting the streamlining and rationalisation seen over the past few years.
There will be more of this change to come.

Jehovah's Witnesses Believe in Evolution (of Doctrines that is)
by konceptual99 ini have been having some interesting low level conversaions with people i know about various aspects of jw dogma that touch on the controversial to gauge reactions.. one conversation has been about evolution and that jws do accept evolution to a certain degree since it is the only way to explain the variation in life we see now since the flood supposedly wiped the slate clean 4000 years ago.
this has lead to some interesting blank, slightly confounded faces but i've then gone one step further about the evolution of doctrine.. so for example, i've had conversations about the fact that we (the royal "we" that is) have always had the but truth doctrine has evolved.
i have used the example of how russell believed that jesus was present in 1874 and 1914 would see essentially a rapture before the world ended.

Thanks for the thoughts Kate. For me it's a loooong, sloooow fade. I know that some on here think people like me need to man up, grow a pair and split but it ain't that simple. Slowly, slowly catchy monkey for me.
It's not a project, just a little game really.

I like the sentiment behind putting a £0.0, £10,000,000 or even the references used above on the slip. Sadly, I don't think anyone will take any notice. The elder processing the slips will chuck it away as simply the petty moan of someone probably on the edge of the congregation. Unless they have good reason to suspect it's an appointed man there will be no witch-hunt.
Now, if a whole congregation did it then that would be more interesting, but not very realistic.
