Just got back. Yup - it was a random Witness, I know it's not really a WTS teaching but the mere fact a Witness of 50 years can still think it's OK to say such a thing says loads about the way the WTS "teaches".
That such a statement is not picked up by the conductor is crazy.

i have recently revived my interest in the night sky.
there are a lot of great sights you can identify with just a pair of binoculars.
i am currently relearning how to navigate my way round all the constellations and find some of the best objects.. i live out in the country so we get almost total darkness right outside my front door.
Next best thing AnnOMaly. How the hell did he think the moon could remain above the horizon for a whole day or more?

I've not seen the MW in as much glory as I would like for a loooong time purely for the lack of dark skies. I might make a special trip to go to the new dark sky park in Northumberland just to take a look....

i've been out for 13yrs but its still funny how some things are so ingrained, but no more.
i had a full english today complete with the devils offering "black pudding" and how mighty tasty it was..
My wife and I had a little bit of black pudding in a really nice meal on our anniversary. I also had a blood sausage whilst in Spain a while back.
I really liked it.
when i was a kid in the early 90's there always seemed to be a mention of how demons posessing people or how if you saw a demon or something supernatural occuring mearly calling jehovah's name would rid you of the situation.
rarely now a days do you hear anything of the sort.

I didn't really post the link to discuss NZ's antiquated law. We have plenty of old laws on the books in the UK to have a big discussion about silly and outdated statues.
The point of the post is really to highlight the fact that in several countries you have a realistic chance of being killed or recieved a heavy prison sentance for apostacy or blasphemy. These are all Islamic countries. Whatever the arguments about if the Koran really supports this or not it is shocking that this situation can affect so many people around the world.
We all know the pain and sufferring caused by the DF policy along with the demonisation of so called "apostates" from the WTS and it does not take much of a leap of imagination to see that the same mentality that endorses such treatment of people in the "free" world can be exagerated to the level where expressing a different view becomes a capital offence.

Me too - especially people who write books about ancient astronomical texts and say things like the new crescent moon "was visible the whole day of [such-a-date] when it was not below the horizon." I still crease up at that.
