My two kids were dragged there by their mom. The first thing out there mouths the next time I saw them was "dad, you wouldn't believe the drama...."

Convention Drama creeps out JWs?
by ezekiel3 ini am getting news from jws who have attended the district convention that the drama (which is pre-recorded and played to lip-syncing actors) has a demon-possessed woman with a ?demonic voice?.
can anyone confirm this?
it is said to be pretty creepy sound effect and many jws are uncomfortable when they hear it.

If i were their lawyer I would go with the "magazine defense." "Your honor, the place wouldn't have burnt down so quickly if the Witnesses didn't keep such a large supply of crappy magazines stored in the back of the building. Who's really to blame here your honor?" 2 to 1 odds I'd get them off. lol

Cas, I can understand "forgiving" a fellow soldier, whether an Iraqi forgiving a US grunt or the other way around. One can reason that each was following orders. But, if you were a close friend of Nick Berg could you forgive what those animals did to him? On the other hand, if you were an Iraqi POW caught up in the prison abuse scandal, could you forgive what those criminals did to you? Just makes me wonder what's justice and what's revenge and where does mercy fit in.

What Things Did You Leave In Jehovah's Hands???
by minimus ini know of so many jw women that wanted to find a "mate" in the "truth" but instead became "old maids waiting on jehovah"......did you find yourself or know of others that just "waited on jehovah" while nothing got done??

Waited in Jehovah to right a wrong done against my dad. He was ripped big time by a very prominant elder (assitant C.O. & very, VERY wealthy). Stole my dad's idea and became even richer. Elders & Crooklyn didn't do a thing. This dude had so much influence he could call Crooklyn and get things done. He even donated all the land for the new KH and almost single-handedly paid to have the building built. He employed half the congregation. No one wanted to see him df'd. I waited & waited & waited....nothing. Then again, his son (who was even a bigger crook) died in a nasty motorcycle accident and later the dad died a slow and painful death from dieses. Hmmm...maybe Jehovah did do something.

Seeing what they were put through, forgiveness would be low on my list. Yet, some did forgive and others, to this day will have nothing to do with the Japanese, including buying anything from Japan. I guess it all depends on what you went through, and how much mentally you can 'move on'.
Seeing these men not take revenage on their Japanese tormentors was hard to understand. My grandfather was a Dutch soldier during WWII. He was captured and later executed by the Japanese. I never knew the man or any of the Japanese men who killed him but I have this hatred for a group of people I don't even know. I just don't understand how some of these men forgave their captors after the hell they have been put through.
Makes me realize that "hot spots" in the world where the US is present will have long lasting effects on how the local population views us.

Just watched this movie on DVD. It's about WWII POWs in a Japanese camp forced to build the Death Railroad. It's based upon real people and real events. The theme of the movie was centered on justice, revenge and forgiveness and the effect it has on one when you forgive another human being who probably doesn't deserve it. The contrast between the Scottish soldiers who "forgave" their Japanese captors and those who didn't was interesting. It eludes me how some people can forgive others for such cruel behavior. Just wondering if anyone else saw it and what they thought about the movie and it's message.

fireworks
by kilroy2 inwhat is the offical policy of the dobdem about going to watch the fire works on the 4th?
i can still remember some of the lesser minds in arcadia fla. cong, debating about if it was a sin to watch them from you house if you could see them or if just going to the display was a sin.
what do they teach today?

I was again thinking the same thing last night. My kids and I live on a lake and every year we watch the fireworks from the beach and every year we see several JWs in their boats also watching. lol. Cracks me up.

Are you black or white ? ( just asking)
by vitty inplease dont take offence but ive just realised something maybe its been touched on before,.but when i was reading the thread on bil cosby i read the one off obviously secret.
now as i am a white person i assumed he was white until he stated he was black.
so when i thought about it, i imagine everyone on this site is white, does everyone who is black imagine everyone else is black, and anyone oriental imagine everyone else is oriental.

My father was Dutch, my mother was Dutch / Indonesian. It was been a very weird comdo. I have fair skin, brown hair and green eyes. On the other hand, my brother and sister both have jet black hair and dark brown skin. Genes, what weird little creatures they are.
