They should also outlaw the driver from speaking to anyone else in the car since that's distracting. Also, babies should be banned from being in cars since they can also be very distracting.

What First Stumbled You?
by glitter inwhat was the very first thing that "stumbled" you?
mine was: i was about 5 or 6 years old and of course i used to find it really hard to find things in my bible at meetings (couldn't find the books quick enough before they moved onto the next paragraph and used to get frustrated).
i had the idea to make little tabs for the edges of the pages so i could tell where the books were - so i asked mum to help me neatly write out the book names on tiny slips of paper and tape them inside.

Remind me never to enlist
Simon as a private in the army, Yeru as his CO. Now that would be a reality show I'd watch every week! lol

Go Get Em COSBY!!!
by Flash incosby has harsh words for black community
by don babwin, associated press writer
chicago - bill cosby (news) went off on another tirade against the black community thursday, telling a room full of activists that black children are running around not knowing how to read or write and "going nowhere.
-

"Bill is saying let's fight the right fight, let's level the playing field," Jackson said. "Drunk people can't do that. Illiterate people can't do that."
The one thing that people like Bill Cosby are still too scared to address is the manner in which many black leaders use the system and cry "racism" for their own advantage. Cosby and Jackson are on opposite ends of this. While Cosby donated millions to help the black community, Jackson uses his connections and influence to line his own pocket.

Until this ends, Cosby can rant and rave all he wants but it won't do any good. If I were a 20 something black American, working minimum wage while seeing the Rev. Jesse Jackson drive by in his new BMW or read about sons making millions off of the connections their daddy has, I'd be pissed.

How Would You / Did You Handle Disfellowshipping?
by minimus in....as in if you personally were df'd or someone close to you was??

Now just lonely and feel like my heart has been torn out.
Can one picture Jesus having the apostles form a commitee for df someone? Maybe the "unclean" women who touched him should have been df'd or maybe he was eating with those tax collectors and other sinners in order to df them. If the elders of today lived in Jesus time, they would have had Peter df'd and Paul stoned. Sheesh, makes me mad every time I read an exp. like this one.

An honest question...
by TallTexan inlet me preface this by saying that what i'm asking is a legitimate question.
i'm not doubting anyone, or accusing anyone of lying, or being an a-hole (well, no more than usual).
if you have a legitimate response to my question, please post or pm me, but please do not throw rocks or otherwise abuse me because this is an honest question regarding molestation w/in the jw community.. i was an active jw for 25 years and have continued to be associated with my still-jw friends for ten years since.

Most of what I see is on the POLICY, and how the POLICY can, through it's implementation, protect child molesters.
While a JW (and even an eldeeeeer) I never heard of any molestation cases. Then again, I've never heard of any in my neighborhood or at work. I also haven't heard of any murders or thefts. In any case, what I think Bill is trying to do is get the WTS to change it's policy. Just because you and I haven't seen any cases, doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I find the WTS two witness policy horrible in these situations.

Why I May Vote for Kerry
by roybatty ini'm a registered republican but i have to admit that after looking at john kerry's web site, i may have to sway my vote his way.
what caught my eye is kerry's attention toward jobs leaving for overseas countries and how the government can at least stop encouraging (and rewarding)large corporations from doing this.
at bush's site, i don't see anything about this huge problem facing america.

I have my Union job that pays me $25 an hour to bag groceries".
How about the $25.00 an hour tool & die maker who's out of work because our government thinks it's ok to reward companies for moving manufacturing jobs to China? Funny thing is, this has been going on for years now. It wasn't until "white-collar" jobs started leaving did some people sit up and take notice. Doesn't it worry anyone else that so many of our defense contractors rely upon overseas many factory? God forbid if we ever went to war with China, we'd need to ask them to make our bullet and tanks and airplanes for us.
And to give you an idea of what many $25.00 an hour blue collar guys do, look at the pic below. Could you build this?

Ultimately, I think an equalizing will occur, as these nations become more developed, with economies on par with the developed world. We definitely need moderation in our governance to get through these growing pains.
Very true. I've seen this first-hand with the plastics industry. In the 1980's, Portugal was the "cheap" country to get precision injection molds (for high-tech plastic parts like cell phone housings, medical parts, etc). Them as they got better and better they realized "hey, we want to make more money like our American counterparts." So they became more expensive. Companies then shifted the work to the next cheap place, Taiwan. In the 1990's this was the place to go. Same thing happened so now the new place to go is China. One problem. Portugal and Taiwan have a relatively small labor pool. China doesn't. If factory workers deman more money, there are plenty of people to pull from farms, re-train them and place them into factories (which more closely resemble labor camps).
Also, one big difference I see between China and other countries is that they want to become the manufacturing powerhouse of the world. Mexico, Taiwan, etc. were happy manufacturing OUR stuff. China wants to learn how we develop items and from this, manufacture everything themselves. I don't blame them, just tired of corporations being rewarding for indirectly helping the Chinese become the world's top dog because they see the almighty $$$$.
