Do you believe in Angels, or any experiences?
by LyinEyes ini was just wondering if any of you have had any experience with seeing an angel or experiencing some kind of guardian angel type thing?
personally i had an experience as a little girl, seeing an angel in my room, but it was probably a dream, a reoccuring dream and the angel always looked the same.
in my adult life , being jw , i never had any experiences.

Yup, look at all the nations the US has invaded and ruled or set up puppet governments....Germany...um..no....Japan..um...no...Korea...oops...no again...Vietnam...nope..El Salvador...nope... Nicaragua...Panama...no Gernada...nope...Bosnia....nah...Iraq...not.
If one looks at all the world powers throughout history, the US has been anything but.

What happened to all this talk of cutting back? And laying off Bethel workers?
Buying new equipment to replace labor is one of the best ways to cut costs. It's just a matter of looking at your ROI (return on investment) numbers. If spending $1.00 on new equipment means you can cut $2.00 of labor (and thus get by with fewer people) it makes sense to invest in newer and better equipment.
BTW, my personal belief is that even if the JWs were to loose half of there members you wouldn't see a drop in the printing numbers. Printing magazines is just something they do, it's in their blood.

by Stephanus injust had a thought: after reading the physical repercussions of jcs thread, i was speculating, on the basis that many elders can apparently be bought, that a benevolent, rich, philanthropical type of person could possibly strike a deal with the elders of his local cong.
: "no jcs in this cong (they're too cruel and nasty), and you'll be well looked after".
then i thought, no, it wouldn't work, would it?

I believe if you were to ask many of the ex-elders on this board, you'd find a huge difference in the number of JC their congregations had. I've been in congregations were JCs were monthly events to other congregations were JCs were extremely rare. A huge part of it is left up to the elders and what they deem as "JC issues."

Okay, Someone "Enlighten" Me... Pleas...
by AGuest injust what is it that saddam hussein has done/is alleged to have done... to warrant a war by the us upon his country, and the most certain result of mass murder of innocent men, women and children, as a result?.
now, i also ask you: please be careful in your response, as all i want are facts, versus emotional vengefulness... and such facts that say this is what he has done so that the us is rightfully entitled to war against iraq.
to that end, then, i would also ask that you make sure your reply takes into account that the us itself has not done similar... or equal... anywhere else in the world... so as to warrant the same result on upon them.. i await your response... and i truthfully bid you peace.. sj, a slave of christ, who is still trying to understand the "thoughts"... of earthling man... though i serious doubt i will....

You guys talk about "hard-core environmentalists" as if it's a bad thing. I don't understand what's bad about being concerned about the environment. ??? Why the negativity? Because you're that attached to your SUV? To your current lifestyle? Is that what life is for you?
I find that being "hard-core" anything isn't always good. It makes it difficult to keep an open mind. BTW, I don't feel the label "envirmentalist" is a bad thing, it's a good one. But it cracks me up seeing Greenpeace bumperstickers on giant SUVs. I also wonder what the effect would be if all the people who are screaming to have Bush clean up the environment traded in their cars for hybrid autos. While I applaud you for planning on doing this, I doubt if most hard-core or otherwise environmentalists are planning to shell out more cash for their autos.
BTW, I don't drive a SUV. I drive a small, 4-cylinder Volvo that is known for being enviromentaly safe.

All I am trying to say is we are too dependent on oil in our modern society.
I agree 100%. I wish that the Dem. and the Rep. would get serious about having the private sector develop alternate fuel sources.

Why wait just a month? Why not 6 months? How about a year?
I'm very curious to see how they'd be a threat to humanity with tons of inspectors, troops and spy planes all over their country. Please explain.
Um...you actually believe that Iraq will allow troops into their country?? I don't think so. Hell, how many times have they thrown out the UN inspectors?
You want to know how they are a threat to humanity? Ok, Iraq continues the cat and mouse game and develops not only WMD but also long range missles. Now they have the ability to hold the world hostage just as NK has done.
