Burning hell is Saturday afternoon at the Disctrict Convention. It's 95 degrees out, you're at the Cicero (Chicago) horse racetrack, it smells like horse crap and the speaker is 168 years old, drools and reads....his....talk....outline...like...this....
Oh yeah, hell defintely exists.

i know that most of you were at one time jws and i was wondering if you still held to the no-hell doctrine or if you had found scriptural reasons to believe otherwise.
if the latter applies, would you be so kind as to share the scriptures that have enlightened you?.

It always did puzzle me that in the Bible, esp. the Hebrew scriptures, God always appeared or gave some type of sign whenever believers or non-belivers mocked him (i.e. Baal worshippers, Herod, etc.)
Why doesn't he do that today? -

Can you be Df'ed without a JC?

recently i heard from an ex jw back in my former country of residence that she had heard i had been df'ed and it was announced at a meeting... can they do this?
if it is true that is!

Actually, I stand correct. To be DF'd there has to be a JC, but not if you are DA'd.
If you join a church, the YMCA, army, etc...there is no need for the elders to form a JC. You DA yourself.
I know this for a fact because I was da'd for joining the YMCA. At the appeal hearing I was told that a JC wasn't even needed because of my actions and I remembered at the time that this was true but that my local elders were so stupid that they didn't realize this. -

Ah, you are 100% correct ozzie. There always has to be a JC but meeting with the accused is not needed.

Yes they can. If a JC is formed and an "honest" attempt is made to contact you (phone calls, maybe a letter) and you don't respond, you will be df'd.
I was on one JC were this happened. The PO, who was the JC chairman, called this "brother" and left two or three messages on his answering machine. He never responded so we assumed that he didn't want to meet with us and the following week it was anounced that he was df'd. I believe that you can even find some information regarding this in the elder's manual. -

if i remember correctly, the society encouraged the reader to, if possible, get out of any type of business partnership with someone who is dfd and not to have any business dealings with these ones.

From time to time I’ve thought about this matter and wondered if it is illegal. Its obvious that a company who is denies an individual a job and or promotion because of race, religion or gender is making themselves a target for a lawsuit or even criminal charges. What about in the case of someone who refuses to do a job for someone else based upon these criteria? I recall not to long ago a restaurant chain named Denny’s got into trouble for allegedly not a group of black people. Would it be any different if a df’d person were to contact a local JW who paints homes and is then told by this individual that he cannot paint his house because he is not to have unnecessary contact with an individual who is df’d? Has this ever happened to anyone? -

QUESTION: will the WTS ever fall? if so, how?
by badwillie inmaybe some of you who have been out for many years can answer this.. do you think that the flow of people leaving the borg has been increasing?
and do you think that we will ever live to see their complete downfall?
if you do think this is a likely scenario, how do you see it unfolding?.

This is something that I have thought about a LOT. Some days I feel that the WT’s numbers will level off and they will continue to be around long after you and I have left this earth. Other days I feel that the WT will crumble. As the “truth” about them is revealed by such powerful means as the Internet, negative media reports and more failed predictions, people will leave. However, the great “unknown” is what will the WT do to stop the bleeding? If they continue to do what they have always done (circle the wagons, “us” against “them”) their numbers will continue to drop, even faster then before. But if the WT becomes more mainstream, as I predict they will, they will just become another Protestant religion and always have a certain number of people joining there ranks.
I feel that the issues that make JWs so bizarre and unorthodox (b-days, holidays, df’ing, blood) will de-emphasized and be viewed as matters of personal conscience. They’ll be forced to do this as more and more JWs become disgusted with the hypocrisy of the GB and demand change. With the numbers of JWs having access to the Internet it’s going to bring this issues to the fore front.
But then again, trying to predict what the WT will do to increase their numbers (or stop the decreases) is like to predict which direction a tornado will go. -
