  Awake! Magazine April 22 1970

  was doing some research this evening and i think ive found possibly the most damaging awake magazine issue the jw's could have printed.

  A Jehovah's Witness in Brooklyn, New York, expressed the effect the changes have had on many.

  "Tell me", he asked "how can I have confidence in anything? How can I believe in the Bible, in God, or have faith? Just ten years ago we Jehovah's Witnesses had the absolute truth, we put all our faith in this. Now the governing body and the Watchtower are telling us this is not the way to believe any more, but we are to believe "new things".   Every generation, or overlapping generation, of the ruling class of Watchtower or Jehovah's Witnesses has released a "new light" version interpreting Revelation with themselves under the spotlight in the center stage.

  The current GOD class of JWs can not resist to also declare themselves a part of so-called bible prophecy. If they don't they will go down in JW history as the only group of JW leaders that never read the bible and personally saw themselves as the subject being written about.

  Arrogant religious leaders can not resist the temptation to declare themselves part of bible prophecy. In addition, arrogant religious leaders can not resist the temptation to declare the previous leaders as interpreting the scriptures wrong.

  Canadian Appeal Court decision made the news: Judges can overturn unfair church edicts

  the other day, this court decision was posted on jwn along with a link to the court document, but few expected the media to pick up the story.

  so to all involved, i understand it was a surprise to see the story in print.

  The fundamental mistake the Watchtower and governing body has made is rearranging the appointment date of the "faithful and discreet slave" by placing it after the formation of the Watchtower corporation and not before as it traditionally was. This makes the JW religion a tool of the Watchtower and not the other way around. The net result being the Watchtower controls the religion and as such the actions of the religion are in fact the policy directions of the Watchtower corporation.

  The dissenting judge was technically wrong in this case as a so-called private "bridge club" that, for example, operates under the auspices and total control of a casino corporation and its board and with all financial proceeds given to the casino, is not private club. However, a congregation is not a private association. If it was really private then it could not qualify for charity status as it only exists to serve itself and its members and would not pass a public benefit test, keeping in mind the preaching work is now classified as a JWs private and personal ministry and not the charity work of the congregation. The Watchtower has dodged a bullet here as a win for them could have ultimately revoked their charity status as well.

  Here's hoping the Watchtower appeals to the Supreme Court and wins thereby establishing itself by its own arguments that all congregations are private and not public.

  What is the Education Level of the Governing Body members?

  i would love to compile a list of the education obtained by the governing body members both past and present.

  can anyone provide any information to get me started?.

  it still amazes me they think they can translate ancient languages with an 8th grade education.

  The Australian Royal Commission called out governing boby member Geoffrey Jackson on his secular education, qualifications and schooling. No surprise that he was a middle school drop out without so much as a certificate of attendance for anything.

  Contrary to popular assumptions alot of JWs in Australia watched the proceedings of the Australian Royal Commission, and were fully aware of the lies coming from the JW heavyweights Jackson, O'Brien, Spinks and Toole.

  The disgust of many JWs towards each of these lying men-of-god ("mogs" or "moggy" ie a moggy elder is an elder lacking religious pedigree or morals) has caused large divisions in congregations and families and have created many an inactive one. The effects will last a generation.

  Found Another Medieval Coin This Evening

  i got in an hour metal detecting this evening and found this almost immediately.. it is a silver penny of henry ii minted in london by "davi" between 1180 and 1189. this adds a king i didn't have in my collection.

  i now have the series of henry ii - john - henry iii - edward i - edward ii - edward iii.. i now need richard the lionheart to fill in the gap.

  he was the brother of john and reigned after the death of henry ii.

  This got me thinking. What if you were to "find" a coin which showed the Jews going into Babylonish exile on one side and the image of Nebuchadnezzar on the other side with the letters "607 BCE" in raised profile on it?

  I wonder how many JWs would see it as proof for the Bible aka GB.

  Can you prove that our entire universe and existence is not a computer simulation?

  if you were a computer programmer and you were to create a simulated automated world, that would constantly evolve and self run after initial designs.

  first you would have to code the rules, laws, and core elements of this world.

  while this is being coded, the program is not run yet, so none of it exists.

  JW Stand On Concealed Carry

  if a jw wanted to get a concealed carry permit, would the society have any moral or ethical problems with it?

  in other words, if one of your elders noticed you were carrying concealed, would they be apt to just ignore it or would they counsel you on it?
