I understand how you feel but feel you should go. I also will be faced with this tough choice soon, My brother who is still in the cult has cancer and according to the doctors has weeks to live... I will be going as will my wife and family that got smart and left the cult. I will not take any crap/disrespect from the cult though. If they show me or my family any abuse I will have some words outside with them and I can promise you it will not be "kind" words...

well my wife's grandmother died a couple of days ago.
the services will be on monday, anne ritchie, not that it is not expected she was 90. not exactly a spring chicken.. my problem is two fold, my wife's parents have not contacted her or tried to contact her for quite some time.
and when they do her mother stops by her place of work unannounced for "a chat", so now that my wife's mother has lost her best friend [donna never cut the cord] she calls my wife for the funeral, i personally do not want her to go, but i cant tell my wife not to go, and i would like to be there to support her, but after my mother died, and i had to sit through a propaganda speech when it was supposed to be about my families loss.

after those traitors portsmouth failed to act as our safety cushion at the bottom the the premiership and stormed up the league, we needed things to work out this weekend.. our victory yesterday again newcastle (sorry gadget & kenuk) plus bolton's 4-1 thrashing of leeds means that it practially guaranteed that leeds join leicester & wolves gonig down to division 1 instead of us !.
man city ... lowest club not to be relegated - what a result !
Too bad the wolves are going to div1 :( Maybe they be back next year.

to those of you who care.
naturalism and atheism go hand in hand.
both deny the concept of god and both beleave that the only hope for a utopia we'll ever have is to create one here and now.
Ya heres an idea......... put some pants on!

arsenal have taken the premiership from manu, and done it in style.
yesterdays game would have been the icing on the cake if it wasn't for the idiocy of lehmann in the closing minutes of extra time.
even you manc fans have to admit that winning the league unbeaten is a real accomplishment.
Wow the U.S. beat Mexico in the friendly? nice job :)
It was a disapointing week though for me my beloved Greek National team lost to Holland 4-0 in a friendly, but on a brighter side they only lost because the coach wanted to play all the subs and see how everyones form is.. Greece had a 14 game unbeated streak before that lose and made it to the EURO Championships for the first time in a very loooooong time.. I cant wait to cheer for them in portugal :) I just hope they have the games on pay per view.
But Cheer for Greece people :) they are the underdogs! got to cheer for the underdogs!

as i read grenpalmtrees post to those of us that support president bush and the current iraqi war, i was reminded that i needed to do something concrete to show me support for this situation.
so i contacted camp pendleton (a marine base which has lost a number of troops in iraq), and spoke with an officer, and asked what i could do to support the families of those that have paid the ultimate price in this war.
he gave me a list of accounts, and i have since donated money to those accounts.
Did we get attacked on 9-11-04 ? YES ....... Did we fight back by going to afganistan? YES...... Did Saddam Hussein ever give money to terrorist groups such as Hamas etc? YES
So lets just go with the facts, we might not "need" to be there, but we cant always sit back and watch our country get attacked by terrorism. we needed to take the offensive and we did! I will most likely vote for Bush this time (I didnt last time) for his actions in defending our country and our freedom.
Wow Suprising result! too bad my favorite team the Wolves will get relegated to div 1 soon :(

i have been lurking on this board ever since the may 2002 broadcast of that dateline on the subject of child molestation.
that show made me realize that the wt may not be speaking for god.
well naturally i discovered the truth about the "truth" over the past 21 months.
XBHERE unfortunately you are right, there is a larg portion of JW's that are trapped and have been trapped for years, afraid of leaving and losing their families.
I was one of those people, I knew the theology was wrong, I knew that the blood policy was unloving unscriptural and wrong, and I knew that disfellowshiping people the way the society does was unloving and wrong, but yet I stayed in this organization for many years for fear of upsetting my parents my wife and her family.
What changed things for me was the "Dateline" show, I didnt need to see that show to know that I was in a cult, but my family did and it raised questions in their mind, my parents started asking the Elders about that show and got the famous "its all apostate lies", So before I knew it my parents found out this organization was not clean and "the only TRUTH" they left before me.... I still stayed in because of my wife and her parents, and not wanting to cause any stress to them, but at same time I was proud of my parents and brother for leaving the Cult.. What settled it for me was when me and my wife started talking seriously about starting a family, I did not want my future children growing up in this cult and that is when with Gods blessing me and my wife started beeing honest and told the Elders that visited how we really felt. All they cared about wasnt us, but "who else have you talked to about this feelings" they cared only to get more people in trouble for having an open mind, for knowing too much, for not beeing a blind sheep.
Well they disfellowshiped us which was a very happy day for both of us ( we decided not to disassociate ourselves because my mother in law asked us not to) and thank God now we are free at still a pretty young age to pursue a Real Godly course and not one that is led by "the Borg"
So I feel for you, but one day the same might happen to you, one day you might just reach your limit and make a decision that will bring you alot of pain at first but in the long run will allow you to be free and happy...

i watched the first matrix tonight to get myself prepared to watch the sequel this weekend.
anyone else notice a lot of parallels between the matrix and the watchtower organization?.
the matrix is a false reality; the people within it are duped into believing it to be the "truth.
Very nicely said! Ya the society has alot of parallels with the matrix....... But the society IS the borg. :)
