because their are so many different god`s worshiped in the world today and none of them have made themselves known to us in this 21st century for all of mankind to see and verify .. all of the gods worshiped today are from hundreds and even thousands of years ago derived from ancient writings and texts in languages that are no longer in use today.. that of course brings up problems of another sort translating an ancient language into its modern day equivalent.. and nobody is in total agreement that such translations are accurate or correct anyway.. and their is no god coming to the rescue of translators to say which is the right interpretation.

Well, I meant in terms of the actual logistics of such a redistribution.
For instance, how do you redistribute real estate property equally? Do houses bigger than what can be afforded by a $16k salary get demolished so that everyone live in an equally sized living unit?
What about other material possessions such as electronics. Is it fair that some have an iPhone X while others have only a flip phone?

just spoke with my mother about the summit for north and south korea, her face turned a ghastly pale and she refused to talk to me about it afterwards.
i know exactly what is on her mind, and i'm not sure if i can say or do anything to assuage her fears about this being a fulfillment of prophecy.

Thats exactly what WT wants, to be honest. The settlement money is simply taken off of the books.
Even more so than hiding any potential criminality, I'd argue that WT, as per Bobby's own words above, is very interested in maintaining the negative spotlight hidden from it's members and potential members. A growing number of victims speaking up publicly, as well as a growing number of ongoing court cases against WT, would only make it increasingly difficult to believe that this is God's sole chosen organization.
It is no surprise that WT is eager to settle as quick as possible.

They've purposely avoided referring to themselves as prophet-like for some decades now and it seems to have worked, to a certain extent, in keeping JWs from doubting. In my conversations with random JW apologists I've found that they usually disregard anything published pre-2000 as "ancient" and not really relevant to today's understanding anyways.

No rational person would doubt mishandlings.
This is no minor issue. The mishandling of potentially 1000s of cases over many decades meant added pain and suffering to countless victims. These victims are real people Bobby, not just statistics. Individuals that have been inflicted with severe and lasting emotional trauma, not only from the perpetrators, but also from witnessing the religion that they thought to be directed by holy spirit carrying out procedures that resulted in harm to themelselves and to others.
As to the cover up, the evidence is out there for all to see. You and I both know how important image and reputation are to Watchtower. But who knows, maybe we will one day see a "real judge" clear the matter up.
