by sleepy ini'd like to start by asking the question can you belive in evolution and not in the possibilty of alien life?.
if the known laws of nature are all that are needed to create life undirected is there any basis for anyone doubting the probable existance of other creatures apart from our own?.

Humorous bit but I doubt its true. Have you ever licked a 9v battery? It tingles a little. The only way I could see one of these killing someone is if its eaten or dropped from a very high building.

NOT WAITING ANYLONGER

I've said it once, I'll say it a thousand times. I love the way I left. I faded away just thinking the local elders were jerks but the dogma was still correct. Once I realized its not there was an elder I couldn't stand (big part of that was because he could never keep his mouth shut about anything) so I emailed him saying I no longe want anything to do with the WTBS knowing he'd pass it out to whoever wanted to read it. Of course I was right and I got word back from my best friend who was about to leave that he was wondering why I only emailed him. So, I wrote him again saying that I knew how big of a mouth he has and I didn't see the need to write anyone else. What was really funny about it was that I also admitted that I wasn't exactly pure on my wedding night, or even close to it which would be more than enough evidence to get me burned on a lot of stuff. I did that just to tease him. The last part of my last message to him basically said he could show this second email to everyone which would prove that I'm right about him having a huge mouth and make him lose credibility and burn me for my various encounters or he could keep it all to himself, save some face, but not report a wrongdoing that he knew very well about. Oddly enough I never heard anything else ever again from anyone at my entire old hall.
Not only did I go out, I went out with a bang and, at least partially, took someone else out with me.
Just have to be smarter than Bethel........I don't need to fight

A geophysicist looks at the "Life" book
by Mindchild ini was going through some files on my computer tonight and discovered something i wrote a few years back for an elder serving as a congregation po who claimed he was trained as a geologist (fat chance of that when i actually started asking him questions he didn't even know the basics) and claimed that the societies life book was a very scientific and comprehensive piece of work.
in fact, he claimed that if i could show otherwise, he would use the information in a public talk he was giving that related to the subject.
i blew him off at first because this is just about the same odds of winning the lottery but he kept after me and then taunting me that i had no answer for him.

Actually, I can offer something better than "everlasting life in a paradise on earth." Its called not living a lie and living life like this one is important. You can promise a kid a brand new bike on Christmas but only Santa can bring it or a slightly used one from their parents. Kid can believe in Santa all day long but he isn't getting that new bike. Believes in his parents at least he'll get something he can actually use.

tyydyy said that you don't have as much control as you think when you're a JW. That's true to a certain point but whatever control you don't have is only because you gave that control to someone else. They couldn't force you to do anything. I was born and raised a JW (3rd generation) and a couple people I was friends with were DF'd and I still talked to them. I didn't care what the elders thought even though there were plenty of consquences. Once again, it all just comes down to personal responsibility. You can shift the focus off of yourself all you want to but in the end it all comes down to what YOU do, not what they tell to do.

Just two things that I would like to add or clarrify on this post.
First is the meteorite thing. The thought that life was introduced to earth is a possibility but not a very popular one. The closest we have to anything like that would be from Mars and there's still debate on that one (myself, I think there is life on Mars). Now as far as building blocks of life in meteorites, there are abundances of that. DNA is built on amino acids and in one meteorite alone (Murchison) all amino acids found in living things on earth as well as quite a few that aren't are contained in this one single meteorite.
The other is Francis Hitching. Wow. Now there is a nutcase. In all honesty, I'm amazed that the JW's read any of his stuff. He is a young earth scientist but not a creationist (well, at least not by a christian god anyways). While this is a side thing for him his main claim to fame is his expertise in dowsing. For those of you not familiar with dowsing it is the practice of using a diving rod to determine where underground there is a water reserve. The spirits guide you. Not exactly a JW practice if I'm not mistaken.
Then again, if the boys in Brooklyn can join the UN for a library card (their claim, not mine) then why couldn't they read a book from such a demonic man to base their scientific beliefs on?I don't need to fight

Hahahahahaha, I love reading your posts on this. I think its so funny when JW's expect you to play by rules you don't believe in.
Also, Ozzie, throw that "She's only being controlled so its not her fault" out the window. Even if she is being controlled she's the letting them control her. Whatever happened to personal responsibility? If Blue can do good its her strength that is the reason, if her sister does bad then its the JW's who are the reason. Is it just me or am I the only one who can't figure that one out?

There are quite a few differences between losing your virginity and losing your innocense to the WT. Most people (guys especially) actually try to lose their virginity. Also, unless you're raped, losing your virginity is a voluntary thing.

Not really JW parental stupidity but I once got into an arguement with my dad about curfew. I wanted to be home at 11 one night and he was dead set on arguing for me to get home at 11. Yes, its the same time. I have no clue what he had been smoking that night...........
