Welcome Onesong, its so good to have you here with us. You comments are very interesting and we feel much the same. We were in the Org for 32 years, but thankfully, we came out together and none of our grown-up children are left in, they made up their own minds years ago.
What were the questions that you were asking? Our questions (like so many others here) were UN involvement, failed prophecies and Paedophilia cover ups.

i was wondering especially from some of the old timers out there jw's or ex-jw's that really understand the jw's concept of the reserrected dead during the 1000 reign of jesus christ.
do they believe that the people brought back from the dead will have to convert to jw's in order to live on for eternity?
i know this sounds like a stupid question but i was talking to a jw's elder the other day and he told me that people like my grandmother who was a "devout born-again baptist" would have to study and become a jw's in the 1000 year reign before she could enter into paradise.
You say that you don't know what the JWs teach anymore - well things haven't changed much, they teach LIES.
Many of the books we had spent hours and hours studying, are "old Hat" according to one elder in our old cong. Where in the bible does it mention having to go to a KH to worship?

my question may seem vague but if one decides to leave "the organization", why write a formal letter?
why not just leave and not have any further contact with the witnesses?
is there some legitimate legal reason for this or do people do this because the witness thinking has overtaken their logic?
We wrote a letter, because we wanted them to know that we could not in any way agree with their hypocrisy (UN thing etc) and their handling of paedophile cases, along with many other issues. We had already sent out letters to friends in the cong. to let them know our feelings on these matters. We didn't view our letter as curtailing to Elders, just the opposit in fact. We had taken back control of our lives and wanted them to know exactly what we thought of ones who could go along with such lies & hypocrisy. (Two of these elders had come to our home - weeks before we sent our letter - and had viewed the original letter from the UN confirming the affiliation of the WT) They had no excuse, but they still chose to go along with the WT action.
We're glad that we sent our letter. No-one phones us or calls on us anymore. Of course, it's much more difficult for ones who still have family in the Org. Fortunately, only my own brother and his wife and family are still in, but he still speaks to me, and I hope that one day he will make a stand against the cult.

they went to an evangelical church, and have now settled in the salvation army.
the sa, does not have the bread and wine ceremony/service, and the wife, (her husband believes that they should partake of the bread and wine) has been prayerfully searching to see if they should really take of the bread and wine.

I cannot understand the Salvation Army's viewpoint, it's almost a case of putting man's rules in place of Jesus' words.
Do many other churches have the same idea i.e. not having communion?
Iv'e only ever been a Catholic or a JW. so I don't know much about other religions.

Thanks Narkissos - I have made a note of the websites and will also have a look in my catholic bible. I was brought up as a catholic, but we never really used the bible to the full during my school years.

The SA, does not have the bread and wine ceremony/service, and the wife, (her husband believes that they should partake of the bread and wine) has been prayerfully searching to see if they should really take of the Bread and Wine. She was a Methodist, before becoming a JW, and was used to partaking in those days.
She has asked if I could put this question open to you all for your comments. Unfortunately, she doesn't have internet access, but I have promised to print out any replies for her to read.

Wow !! thank you all so much for your comments, this is obviously a really deep subject and I apologise if it has been discussed in great depth before, (I did a search on this site but nothing much came up)
There are so many new ones on this site now, that I don't suppose it will matter if subjects such as this are re-discussed.
Are some of the scriptures that you refer to, from the Books not found in the witnesses own bible?

Thanks - I have only recently given it some thought, after being in the Witnesses for over 30 years, I'm not really into researching anything myself - says she ashamadly!
We were always told the answers to everything, but now I am reading so much of other people's opinions, that it makes you wonder, just how much you really knew when you were in the Org.
I will have a look at the Search engines. I searched on this site for Michael Archangel, but it only came up with two postings. Neither were relevant.
I'll get back with my research, as soon as I find something interesting.
