Yes yes yes! No more feeling like I am being judged for everything I did, everything I wore, everything I said. No more looking over my shoulder, no more being made to feel inferior for being a woman, no more getting cousiled for being head-strong and independant female. No more denying my relationships and friendships. No more of the hatred that the gossipers had for me, and no more emptiness inside. I am happy to be myself. I am so happy. I love my life and I do not feel the need to fill any void with a marriage, or a baby, or submission, I have no void. I love my job, I love my school and I love my S/O and my guinea pigs.

JW strangers say mean things to you at assemblies?

i have had some issues with the general meaness jw's are to people that they do not even know, and are jw's.. example 1: i was maybe 13 years old and i was a fast developer, i had big boobs basically.
well a dress i had was really nice...my parents would not have let me wear something that was not apprepriate for me, but i guess the dress was low (i didn't think so) and when i was in the bathroom at the assembly at the mirror, a woman just came up to me and was like "you are showing all the assets you have to offer" or something to that effect.

I felt bad for her, but at that point, I became so self conscious I went back to my seat and stayed there the whole time with a sweater in 80 degree weather.
Example 2: When I was 15, I remember some older woman, completely random, just looking me up and down in complete disgust...and I couldn't figure out why. I was wearing really high healed shoes, the big soled ones...and my skirt was right at my knees, was that it? That look always stuck with me.

by micheal inone of the cornerstones of jw's is counsel.
they just love to give counsel and many times they will literally make things up just for the sake of counsel.
i was once counselled for joking around too much.

Well, I definitely know I am one of the lucky ones because I got out of the religion right in time (18-20 years old). So I do have my adult life ahead of me.
I am on my forth year of getting my BA in New Media, an up-and-coming field in the computer arts and internet area. I am very excited. In about a year, when I get my degree, there are going to be several great jobs waiting for me, I will probably have to be a web developer for a while under some companies employ.
Additionally, my life partner and I have a company we are working on in the web development field, and just this month, got a huge client that will bring us a couple thousand dollars a month. That will get me through graduate school where I will try to get two degrees at the same time, in business and something arts-related.
After that...well its all open. Ideally, I would love to be a proffessor in the New Media department at my school, the department is developing nicely and I would love to be a part of one of the only schools in the nation currently developing in this field. Some of the greatest artistic minds are heading up this department and I have so much admiration for them and would love to work along side them.

HELP!! Ladies, Dress me for L.A. Please Help
by badolputtytat inmy wife and i are being sent (all expense paid) to beverly hills , on the 28th of this month, to participate in the lifetime television network for women, breast cancer awareness thingie.
four days and nights of social functions, and dinners, and a concert.... formal and dress attire.
please help, we will be staying at the regent beverly wilshire hotel, beverly hills (where the movie "pretty woman" was filmed) the concierge will be dressed better than i am, if you don't help me.. i am an artist, living in georgia... i know blue jeans and t-shirts... any suggestions????????

In LA... $2000 a suit is a normal price. har har, but what normal people actually do that? $600 for 4 outfits might be a little short though, in my opinion.
Get a GQ mag and look throught there for ideas, don't buy the expensive stuff, but copy the style for sure. For a casual look, keep the button down shirts, nothing plaid EVER. Do not button the last button, and maybe even the sleeve buttons. For formal, check out the mag ;)

For tghe lady, I do not know her type, but sleek and sexy is where its all. Good colors: nuetral tones, gold and black. What is her hair color and skin tone? Hair color? She should go to a moderately priced store and ask for help, sales people are good for that. Get a makeover from a salon too.

There is more to it than "societies gender roles". Men have testosterone making them more horny; that's not all society, that's hormonal. So that being said, I would have no problem whatsoever and would not be creeped out if my male friends found me attractive, sexually.
I certainly do not have a problem if they find me attractive, I have a lot of friends whom I consider attractive, doesn't mean I want to or am trying to have sex with them. And yeah I too would be creeped out if it was true that all men look at their female frineds as possible conquests or sex object. If I turned down their advances, would they not want to be friends with me anymore?

Bro gives talk by laptop...lol
by caspian indespite my hangover, i reluctantly went to the meeting yesterday (the gaps are getting bigger each week).
i know that my eyes were a bit out of focus, but this is true, the young elder (age 27ish) gave the talk from his laptop.
his audience contact was crap as his eyes kept scrolling down the screen, mind you it was the worst talk i had heard for years, one of those 30 scriptures in 45 minutes events what we used to call read and run with no explanation.. .

I am rather a techie...
when I was younger, I brought a laptop the the assembly to take notes with...keys are usually quiet with a laptop, so I thought it was OK. my parents were mildly annoyed but didn't say anything until an attendant mentioned something to him.
In addition, I would use my Toshiba PocketPC all the time last year when I went to the meetings but I mostly played with a little program on it that you could make little animations with...its what kept me awake.

It is pretty sad to assume that all males think this way and can not be friends with the opposite sex. I would have thought that as a society we have progressed past this.
I am against societies gender roles. Do not blame your gender an excuse for your actions.
