Sanders for me too. Tho I've been impressed with Hillary at the debates. But any ideas that she would make politics less polarized is a pipe dream. It sort of started with her and Newt Gingrich.

hi, i just joined the board and wanted to present myself.. i'm active, in fact very active in congregation activities serving "where the need is great" in a foreign language congregation somewhere in western europe.
as a young brother, i'm seen as an example as i'm doing all a good witness should do.. i had doubts years ago but i decided just to ignore them and move to another congregation to preach more.
that worked for some years but i'm now at the exact same point.

I second Ding's advice to read the New Testament with your own eyes.
You don't have an easy road in front of you. Especially with friends and family all in. Definitely start making connections with those on the outside. This journey is worth it. There is NOTHING like freedom to live your own life as you feel is right.

i always enjoyed being kind.
when someone genuinely needed a hand or what not, it felt good to help family or friends.. i don't really miss them anymore.
i faded over two years ago, so they long ago shunned me.i think about them less and less and have even forgotten some names.i did enjoy some of the friendships and the association.
If witnesses could count time 'showing love' then they might actually do it.
i used to enjoy helping witnesses in need, too. One I gave $300 to, didn't want anything back, just wanted to help her little unemployed family. She was very grateful, but was the first one to unfriend me on facebook when rumors about me leaving the religion started to go around. TRUE friendship, lol!

hello my dear friends,.
with the recent terror attacks on my capital, my emotions have been quite stirred and in turn my mind has been in constant motion.. i wanted to come here and give you a little update on my life.
i have officially moved on from the witnesses.
i understand that many on this forum are undertaking a slow fade, over months, years even.. can i ask what is the benefit of that instead of a fast fade?.
as i understand it, the elders only have to deal judicially with people who are still active witnesses, known in the community as witnesses, having contact and influence with witnesses etc.
so surely the sooner you stop attending meetings the better.
just trying to figure out what i believe in the wake of leaving the borg.
jesus message appeals, of course.
i just wanted to ask believers, christians, on this forum if you think the hope is heaven or earth.
Yeah I really admire people who say 'no regrets' but unfortunately that's far from how I feel...despite being really thankful for all my many blessings.
Back to the OP, torn I am a believer, as you know, and go to church. Most Protestant churches believe (tho they don't talk about it much) that people go to heaven, and sometime in the future, there is an earthly hope, when 'the tent of God will be with them.' They do not speculate too much on the details, but an earthly hope is definitely in their belief system. I personally yearn for both heaven and earth.
Incidentally, in my mainline church, hell is spoken of as a 'separation from God.'
I agree about many, many passages in the Old Testament that bother me. I feel that Jesus came to earth to explain what God is, and before that there was a primitive understanding. And taking a fundamentalist view of the scriptures is unhealthy, but allowing for human favoritism and weakness and the times it was written in, and errors of translation...allows me to keep some perspective on it.
