Critique of the lastest New World Translation?
by dontfitin inhi, i'm a long-time lurker who is still in due to family.
i'm hoping someone here can help me.. is there anywhere online that i can find a critique of the new bible revision?
one of the things that really got me was when i researched about the new world translation and found how there was no basis for adding jehovah's name in the new testament, and then other areas where they translated to accommodate their interpretation.

Wonderment, I appreciated your honest post as well. Even tho you and I read some scriptures differently, I think we have the same overall outlook--or at least very similar! Joining this forum it was never my purpose to argue the Trinity...I myself don't strictly adhere to it in my beliefs, as explained in a post above. I think the Trinity is an explanation of how Jesus can be referred to in the Bible several times as God, and reconciling this with there is only ONE God. To me it makes sense that since Jesus is the only begotten son of God, and man begets man, God begets God...Jesus is God and The Father is God. But as I said before, the Father is given fatherly respect. The Holy Sprit--while I do believe he is a person, and often in scripture the three are linked together, I don't believe he is also God. I think we don't really know. But mystery doesnt bother me. As your username suggests, I also like to 'wonder.'
Connie please don't be discouraged. I find also that this forum gets me down sometimes. So, I have tried to focus on helping other people who are struggling or feeling lonely...helping them feel supported. I avoid the theist/atheist arguments that go nowhere. And there so many sad stories, often without answers. But at least these people have somewhere to tell their stories, to people who understand! But really, taking breaks from the forum is healthy and go ahead and take those breaks if you need to. If you are starting to feel discouraged that is a good sign that it's time for a break.

Did you know anyone who commited suicide in the org?
by JH inback in 1991, a young brother maybe 18 years old living next to my place committed suicide.
his father expected him to be very zealous just like he was, but the son never wanted to be like that.
he was always controlled by his father.

I've known many. Either teens who didn't really want to be witnesses but had too much family pressure, or people whose lives weren't perfect when they were expected to be perfect, or mental issues that weren't addressed correctly. -

Reading the context...just two or three scriptures...around John14:28 is all that is needed. -

Connie my method of study was very similar to yours and answers also came to me in that way after praying for direction.

A question about fading....
by Tornintwo ini understand that many on this forum are undertaking a slow fade, over months, years even.. can i ask what is the benefit of that instead of a fast fade?.
as i understand it, the elders only have to deal judicially with people who are still active witnesses, known in the community as witnesses, having contact and influence with witnesses etc.
so surely the sooner you stop attending meetings the better.

Yes, family is the primary reason. Also it prevents a disfellowshipping for apostasy...if you go slow, they are less likely to suspect something.
So it all depends on you and your circumstances, torn in two. I remember you were a convert and wanted to take it slow for your daughter's sake. She seems to have mostly come out of it, and your husband has eased up, tho he is still a believer. So the only thing you have now may be some witness friends you occasionally see.
What is the worst that can happen, if they do Df or DA you? If you are tired of fading and ready to face the possible consequences, just stop. If the elders in your area don't give a lot of attention to people like you, you may be safe anyway.

3 local needs parts on service meeting.
by hoser init is scheduled on our service meeting next week to have 3 local needs parts.
local needs 1 , local needs 2 and local needs 3.
-

I thought local needs was scheduled, once a month, among the other talks. Were the other talks cancelled? Or are they doing it differently now. Wouldn't someone have been reproved at a previous meeting, and then local needs in the following weeks?
Be sure to come back next week and tell us hoser!

I don't believe 1 cor 15:27 does exclude Christ from being equal to God. It says that God was not placed under christs feet. This is because they sit side by side. -
