  Kagloo, for a very long time I felt as you do....that the JWs had the "truth" but that there were problems with the management of the organization. I didn't see the love that was supposed to be evident amongst true Christians, I couldn't understand the hypocritical attitudes that you describe. There were just so many things that troubled me.

  I went through a period of guilt for looking at the "imperfections of men" and tried to "correct my thinking". I found, though, that I simply could not deal with things as they were. This was almost 20 years ago. Things still haven't changed. Jehovah STILL hasn't corrected "His" organization. If anything, the problems are worse.

  Oddly enough, the more I researched, the more I found that the "truth" I had been taught had many, many holes.

  M.E illness amongst jehovahs witnesses?

  i have always wondered why so many jws i knew suffered from the illness "m.e" previous to being a jw i never heard of this illness but when joining the borg i noticed noticed so many jws saying all of a sudden they had m.e maybe its a jw disease trend.

  anyhow what does m.e stand for.. haujobbz

  It's probably a lot safer for a JW to say that they have ME rather than to admit that the psychological burden of living up to the "standards" was causing them to be exhausted.

  An actual physical condition allows them to avoid examining the real reasons for their exhaustion.

  I haven't done canning in awhile. I used to make grape jelly, grape juice, and wine. I also used to bake bread (no breadmaking machine).

  Unfortunately, I have a strange husband who refuses to eat anything homemade. As a matter of fact, he won't even eat the blackberries that we have growing on our property.

  When my daughter was small, I'd cook up fresh vegetables and chicken for her lunches at the babysitter. I figured that fresh food was better than jarred baby food. In order to make things easier, I would cook up a batch, run it through the food mill, and freeze individual portions in ice cube trays. I then stored the chicken, green beans, squash, etc., in separate freezer bags so I could just pull out individual servings for each day.

  My husband, however, noticed several times that the icecubes "went bad" and threw them all out. (sigh)

  Every board has a slightly different flavor....a different rhythm....but one is not better or worse than another....just different. Sort of like Ben and Jerry's......all the flavors are good, and you pick whatever suits your fancy at the moment.

  We've been living in our current house for 9 1/2 years. The only time the JWs have stopped by (at least when I've been home) was to shove one of the "special tracts" in the door. They weren't even walking up the street, but rather drove from house to house and ran up to each door to quickly ring the bell and deposit the tract before anyone could come to the door.

  i am told by those stupid enough to be called my friends, that i think about death far too often for comfort.

  this blemish on an otherwise perfect character is probably a gift of nationality as many of my comrades seem to spend whole days toasting seats in corner cafes, lethargically discussing the latest obituary and predicting the size and quality of the tombstone.

  whenever i visit the mountainous village of my birth, it strikes me that i have seen these same people drinking campari in these same bars for almost four decades.

  Myself, I wholeheartedly agree with you. No service....no music. Just scatter my ashes in the ocean or a quiet hillside. The music of life will be there....that has always been most agreeable to me.

  Seven.....now wait just a flippin minute here! Are you trying to tell me that you don't WANT your collection back? Hmmm....this isn't supposed to happen. Exactly WHAT am I going to do with all these women? Wonder if Robin wants any.

  Wait....I'll tell you what. I'll GIVE you THREE bags of pistachios if you will just take them back. They're getting close to "that" time (wink, wink) and they refuse to help clean the horse shed.....nail polish considerations and all.

  Please? (whimpering softly and regretting she ever got this overblown misbegotten scheme in her head in the first place) Come on, Dave......every guy could use a couple of extra bags of nuts...right?

  Can someone help please

  i was wondering if you could help me.. im not a jw but im trying to help a friend who is.. recently he announced to all his friends that he's a jw and many of.

  them ran a mile and havnt talked to him since, the rest of us, had either .

  guessed or have stuck by him because we're his friends and his religion.

  There are five meetings a week. The one you've described is probably the book study. It is kind of a question-and-answer session, but you need to understand that this is NOT an open discussion. The questions are posed in the particular Watchtower book that is being "studied", and the "answers" are merely paraphrasing what is written in the paragraph.

  After the "question" is "discussed" the paragraph is read aloud, and the group proceeds to the next "question". There is little to no open discussion allowed.

  On Thursdays (or possibly Fridays) there is a Service Meeting and a Kingdom Ministry School, which are basically sales seminars where preaching techniques are practiced and discussed.

  Sundays have a Public Talk, which is based on an outline provided by the Society, and a study of the Watchtower magazine. The format for this study is almost identical to the Tuesday night Book Study, with little open discussion allowed.
