most people of the western world believe that the freedom to speak and express your opinion is a fundemental "right" of humans.. but how far can free speech go?.
what if i owned a cigarette firm, and i wanted to say on the packet, "somking is very benifical for you".
am i using my right to free speech, or am i misleading other people?.
When a religion violates human rights I think they should be fair game in the courts.

I don't want to see govs in control of religion but I would like to see govs hold religions accountable for their actions.

too late for your situation, but i'd treat her as i've come to treat my jw family: leave religion, the truth, jehovah (and the rest of that jw baggage) out of all conversations... unless they bring it up.
and even then, don't expect much.

When I get hateful threatening email from from a lurker and they have blocked my address as they usually do or they won't reply then I expose them publicly.
They broke the rules first and I don't feel abit bad for exposing them.They found me on a public forum but are too cowardly to say these things in public.

i actually wrote this post in response to a poster recently dealing with the 'defeating' of the wts.. i have started a new topic with the post as i would like to hear opinions of what xjw's and others view as a 'defeated' watchtower.. "i am not quite sure what we all want from the wts.
what does a person mean by 'defeating' the watchtower?.
destroying it, selling its buildings, giving the cash back to the people who bought them?

What does defeating the Watchtower mean to me?
Good question.
It means different things at different times to me.
Some days I feel like I'll never be happy till they are out of business for good but I know that's just emotion taking over.
Other days I think that exposing them to the public will satisfy me and protect others.
Then there are times I think if I could just see the day that my friends and family see the real truth and free themselves that would make me happy.
But I know in my heart that because I care for people that just wouldn't be enough either.
I also know that WT isn't the only abusive controling religion out there so I sometimes want to defeat all organized religion.
So sadly, I really don't think we will ever get complete satisfaction or truly defeat those that we want to.
The danger is that we may defeat ourselves in this never ending struggle.

i started seeing all these discussions about kent's new board so i got curious and went over there to see what all the fuss and excitement was about.. anyway the following was my experience.
just wanted to say hi.. there are too many of you i would miss if i didn't come over here and register too.

whats your earliest memory?.
i can remmember going to see my new-born sister in hospital when i was 2 years old.. funny thing is i remmember , remmembering that i remmembered things from the past as a 2 year old , but i carnt remmember the actual things themself.. i hope that makes sense.. i wonder if i can access earlier memories by some technique?
I remember quite a bit from two years on.
At 2 my parents seperated and my mom had to get a job.
I remember them fighting and I remember being taken to a strange home were a woman babysitted me and several other kids instead of being with my mother at home.
I remember later when I was 3 and mom and dad were back together, telling me she had a baby in her tummy.
I was going to have a brother or sister.
I didn't really understand.
I have lots of memories from the end of my third year on because thats when this baby business became a reality for me.
I got a sister.

at the book studies?
they were the highlight of the month.. thing is, all the sisters would try to outdo each other making nice food, which amused me no end, and also kept my stomach filled up, but drove me nuts, because my mother would spend the entire afternoon making a giant racket in the kitchen and screaming @ my sister whilst doing it, just to bake a cool cake for the book study.. also, remember those last ~15 minutes before the end of cake night book studies?
We called it "snack night".
My hubby was a bookstudy conductor for years and on that night we would have only a 40 to 45 min study and no one ever complained about about breaking early for "snack night".

When my husband first posted on the old h20 board he was the
Po of our cong.
He risked his neck many times.
He stayed in for along time trying to occomplish what he could for the underground.
It was hard and took it's toll on him and me both and finally it became impossible to keep up the sharade any longer.
The time he stayed in as PO accomplished so much and he doesn't regret it and neither do I.
You are at risk and I completly understand where you are coming from.
Don't tell anyone more than you are comfortable with.
Is your family with you or are you alone right now?
My husband was about a year ahead of me on all of this so he had to take it slow to try and keep our family together.
Just a warning there are also many here who still suffer over mistreatment by the elder arrangement and those who rebel against leadership and so don't take kindly to elders or even ex elders.
