I'm speculating that there are at least as many ex-JWs as there are current JWs, but I could be wrong.

Cedars - just thinking aloud about big picture shunning statistics
by Fernando innothing serious just thinking aloud.... a moment ago i wondered what the big picture looks like.... how many millions of jws, have shunned how many millions of friends and family members, for how many billion hours a year, for how many years?.
how many parents are shunning their own children at the moment?.
how many children are shunning their own parents at the moment?.

New light or did the speaker just pull this out his wazoo?
by pubtruth ini went to the last day of the dc here in west palm beach, just to make my mother company.
wow, what a difference can a year outside the lie can do to perception.
it was the same crap as you'd expect but there is a plot twist: the speaker was so into the talk he was actually starting to shout and wound up mentioning that they now know how many angels will be needed to destroy everyone at armaggeddon.

The guy probably didn't write a long enough talk, so he had to "pad" it with extra information and nonsense that would sound important.

According to the Elders' Manual, if you threaten legal action during the JC, they have to immediately stop the JC and get further instructions from Watchtower Headquarters. Fer real. That could buy you time if you need it.

I've actually done an in-depth investigation into the WT/UN scandal, and it's what led me to leave the JW's. Here is a webpage I wrote based on the information I found, I think you'll find it very enlightening:

I am not a Jehovah's Witness -- I was df'd as an apostate eight years ago. HOWEVER.... many here are Jehovah's Witnesses who are incognito. Some are questioning, some are on the fence, and some are attempting a successful "fade" in order to maintain family ties. You really don't know who is who unless they "come out".

New Light on Blood Fractions
by The Searcher infrom the hlc - not a letter from hq - why not?it is felt that because people don't know what to accept and what to say 'no' to, brothers and sisters are saying 'no' to everythying, and this is just wrong!they want brothers to know that not only is blood sacred, but also life is sacred.
the implication is, that if you say no to fractions, you could be viewing life as not sacred, and that if you do not have a good reason that you can explain, you should not say 'no' to things.
and they are no longer using the term "blood fractions" - they are to be called "blood derivatives", because the substance is so small.whatever happened to leviticus 17:13?

I'd still like to hear them explain why whole white blood cells are forbidden, even though whole white blood cells are exchanged between mother and baby during breastfeeding.

Why did you become a Jehovah's Witness ?
by Gnosis inwhy did you become a jehovah's witness ?.
initially upon entering the religion what were the positive things you experienced ?.
how did that particular way of thinking both benefit and harm you ?.

I was a born-in, so I grew up thinking that the adults around me knew what they were talking about (ah, the bliss of childish ignorance!). I didn't see the truth about "the truth" until I was 36. I haven't stepped foot in a Kingdom Hall since (eight years ago).

My Family Study
by BU2B inas i have posted before i am working to help get my wife out of the jws so we can leave together.
i have been trying to think of ways to open her mind and get her to think critically and use her mind.
i dont want to bring lots of facts and reasoning to her attention if her mind is not yet ready for it.

Any influence to "cement" her will wear off over time; it is common for members to be extra zealous when "new" information comes out, and then it wears off after a while.
You are right not to argue or confront her on items of doctrine. The better way is to ask "offhand" questions that will get her thinking about things that don't make sense in their doctrine (though she won't admit that to you in the beginning).

Jackson Family Imploding
by skeeter1 ingrandma jacksons is mia in arizona, but la police are not allowed to see her.
reported she had a mini-stroke last week.. family members are trying to get temporary custody of michael's children.
could be money involved, as only mj's kids and the guardian of mj's kids get money.

Mini Strokes are also known as TIA's (Trans-Ischemic Attacks). They are nowhere NEAR as bad as a "regular" stroke. Everyone survives mini-strokes, and are able to go on with their lives as normal (though likely with medications added in). If someone is hurt or disabled by a "mini stroke", then it was actually a regular stroke.
If Katherine really had only a mini-stroke, then she isn't in danger of losing custody.
So the question is: If she is still missing, then something else sinister is afoot.
