I heard an elder once say that, when a couple divorces, it's because at least one of the spouses wasn't following Bible principles. I suppose this is true, but not in the way he meant it.

that said, i do wonder if there is a trend in the world that transcends the "truth".. i can hardly read anything biographical these days without encountering someone who has gone thru an amicable divorce - at least, amicable in the outcome, anyway.
they may 'still be friends' and simply come to see it as another step in their personal evolution.

i've been out for three years now, and i heard that i'm a whack job, i'm gay ( i'm married with a son ), that i lied on a judicial committee, and these rumors were started by my ex-fiance and her meddling congregation.
when i heard about these things i called my p.o or c.o.t.b.e ( mind you i'm disfellowshipped when i called ) .

Any new light on windows in the KH
by jam inremodeling is being done on the kh in my area.. friends have come to me inquiring about the remodeling.. it,s been two months.
first they ask , why no windows.. i told them some kh have windows.
soon after windows.

Growing up, my hall had regular sized windows all along the wall on both sides of the auditorium. The library also had a window, and so did the restrooms and the coatroom. Of course, ours was an older hall, so I'm sure the number of windows is "out of date" now.

"Scriptural divorce"
by ilikecheese inso i was talking to my boyfriend about the whole jw scriptural divorce idea.
i made the point initally that i think when jesus was talking about reasons to get divorced, he was more or less just trying to discourage divorce for frivilous reasons.
you have to admit that there are a lot of people out there who just don't put much effort into it and just give up.

Actually, Jesus didn't say that adultery was reason for divorce, he said that FORNICATION was grounds for divorce.
What's the difference?
You commit adultery by looking at pornography, but that isn't fornication. Adultery is simply the act of lusting for someone else, whereas fornication is when you actually act on that lust with a willing partner. If people were allowed to divorce simply for adultery, no marriage would stand. Of course, adultery is still wrong, but it is actual fornication that breaks the "one flesh" bond, and frees the person from the marriage. This is why Jesus said "fornication" instead of "adultery" as grounds for divorce.

Male circumcision is NOT anything LIKE female circumcision: Men can still enjoy sex afterwards, women can't. If male circumcision was such a traumatic thing, God would never have insisted on it in the Old Testament.
The benefits of it: It is proven that circumcised men are less likely to contract STDs, less likely to develop a urinary tract infection, and nearly zero risk of penile cancer. Circumcised men are less likely to give their female partners the human papilloma virus (which causes cervical cancer), have nearly zero chance of developing balanitis (infection of the head of the penis), offers better and easier hygeine, and better sexual stimulation.
I think that, instead of banning the practice, perhaps the law should stipulate that males make their own choice on the matter when they reach a certain age.
