by Seeker4 ini was talking to a friend yesterday whose sister and brother-in-law have been at bethel for three decades at least, working in important departments that put them in contact with the writing dept., gov.
body, etc.

This is utterly appalling!! How can the Olympic Committee be comfortable allowing a country which sqelches individualism with such horror to host??? The Olympics celebrate diversity, peace and unity like no other global event. IMO any country deemed appropiate for the privelege of hosting should do the same. I personally will NOT watch the opening or closing ceremonies in protest!

Our circuit overseer back in 1989 made a statement to us in our "pioneer meeting" that if you took 10 children in the congregation and put them on the stage, 8 would leave the "truth" by the time they reached adulthood. Evidently this 80% figure has been around for almost 20 years!

I believe what would be a real eye opener for many would be greater media attention to molestation cases going to court. How the WTS has gloated over the past decades with all the scandals exposed with the Catholics and Evangelicals, taking the arrogant stance that this sort of thing does not happen amongst "God's people"! More NATIONAL media attention would certainly force many to think, are we really that much better than the rest?? IMO-

Anyone here, have you had enough religion for the rest of your life?

I am through with organized religion on any level. What works for me is the Sermon on the Mount. As far as I am concerned the guidelines for living that Jesus taught in the three chapters, Matthew 5-7 are all one needs. The Beautitudes give us the secret to happiness and the Golden Rule tells us how to be constructive members of society. It's just that simple, who needs all the complicated man made rules and regulations which make up religion? Not me!!
