Do Ex-JW men really understand women?
by Mindchild inhey guys, .
in light of our past shared watchtower delusions, especially relating to understanding women, i thought it would be interesting to see how well everyone scores compared to your real world counterparts in understanding women.. you can take the sexual aptitude test here: http://www.menshealth.com/cda/quizleadin/1,6927,s1-2-0-0-427,00.html.
no cheating now!

Authority and Submission in "Boston" ...
by refiners fire inin a thread earlier today a lady mentioned the "boston movement' as it is known.
this movement is a splinter group from a larger recognized church, the church of christ, and the "boston" movement is now known as the "international church of christ".
it has been labelled a cult.

I finished reading this book yesterday, and I highly recommend this book to everybody! I also appreciate the objectivity. I would recommend this book to active witnesses, because I don't feel they were portrayed terribly. Donald just tells it like it was, there is no bashing in this book. But one can read between the lines and see how things should have been different. Donald doesn't put the blame on others, he just questions their motives. He just tells his story, and lets the reader make up their own mind.
I am astounded at Donalds courage in writing this book. Thank you Donald!

Is/was everything demonized
by stillajwexelder indoes anyone here have this experience?
in my old congregation there were a number of sisters absolutely obssesed by the demons.
if a dog barked too loudly when approaching a door on the field service "it is demonized' -- if a refridgerator broke when the co was due round for a meal or after the service "it was demonized".

jw childhood held a lot of fears, armaggedon, demons, etc. I remember walking with my friend, and we happened upon a toy boat, lost or left behind by some child. I was excited ( I didn't have many toys growing up ), so I went to pick it up so I could take it home. My friend screams at me to drop it, it could be demonised. Uh, ok.....I did leave it there though, because what if she was right? I certainly didn't want to invite demons into my house!
When I was a teenager, I read the Stephen King book Pet Cemetary. I was a bit nervous about it, because I was afraid I may be inviting the demons into my home, but they never came.
My dad wasn't a witness, but he knew how scared we were of demons, so what did he do? He scared us of course, by throwing things around at night when we couldn't see him, making us think demons were throwing things at us. We caught on pretty fast though.
ah....memories.....
