"Stupid...Hateful..Evil.."?

at first glance, most people would say that there are lots of very good jws around.

ok, we reason, maybe they are a little misguided, but most of them mean well.

we particularly like to think that way about our friends and loved ones who are in the organisation, we dont want to regard them as being unkind and uncaring.

Seriously, I believe that the majority of witnesses are 1. stupid, 2. sheep (looking for someone, anyone to tell them what to do) and 3. evil (deep down, anyone who condones or believes that the world is going to end and only they will survive-well, you all know that answer).

The stupid part is obvious. Why educate when you can keep the masses down with illiteracy? This is figurative. They only read WTS books and mags. No college. Think back in history and look around you today. The Taliban teaches similar to the WTS; our religion only, no questions. Look at kids at bad public schools. They really can't read, so they can't question the status quo. The borg wants this lack of questioning. Education brings questions.

My firm belief is something that my mother always said-"people are like sheep; watch them in a line. They always line up behind the others, even when the next line might be empty". This to me means that most (not all-my self included and I would say most on this board) people want to feel apart of something. They seem to want to be told what to do. At the same time, most people are not leaders. Hence it is that much easier for the borg to come in and take control. They are preying on the lowest common denominator in human behavior. It also makes taking responsibility for your own actions easier.

Evil-I do believe they are evil. Watching the antics of the elders and the family members of such was eye opening. Watching the nasty behavior exhibited by publishers was even more eye opening. What Scully brought out about evil is right on. I can honestly look at my family and say that a few of them, upright JW's, are evil. They have put the borg above all else. The others are stupid sheep.

I feel heart sick for Joelbear. He must make his own decision. I will only say, I would not go back for any amount of money. Nothing could make be step foot in a KH. When my mother dies, it will all be done in a funeral home. I will talk. I don't care if every elder in Chicago turns out, I will be heard. I will not allow JW talk of paradise. We will talk about her life and what she contributed to society (not much actually-she does not believe in social programs).

Anyway, again Englishman, you brought up some wonderful points and generated even more interesting posts.

it would appear that active jw's who have reservations about the societies teachings, are usually doubtful about the prohibition of accepting a blood transfusion.

oddly, few seem to have any qualms about the shunning policy whilst they are still associating.

I agree with you. We are pressure cookers. I have needed to vent and this forum has given me the opportunity to do that after many years of stewing.

I think this is a very good issue to think about. I never had the blood issue come up either. I did have a conversation with my mother after TV show "The Practice" showed the JW lawyer in a coma and needing a transfusion. I told my mother my husband had control and if he felt it would save my life, he should go for it. She is very upset that I set aside the teachings. Yada Yada.

For myself, the shunning is more harmful to more people. It causes psychological and emotional damage. It really bothers me that JW's use the "bad associations...." excuse for this. I have personally seen the hurt and pain it has caused numerous members of my family.

On the blood issue-I do agree with you that there is a martyr aspect to it. They are so vehemently opposed to it, it is beyond all reason. However, if you deny a doctor the opportunity to give you blood and die, you are similar to Bin Ladin's folk's. You will wake up in paradise! What more could a soul (not that we have one ) want?

All of your relatives and friends can say you died for the greater good and Jehovah will take care of you. Then they forget about you.

With shunning, it goes on and on. They do not forget and will continually bring up the transgression that led to the shunning.

This message is basically directed to single sisters looking for a mate. Marriage is obviously a natural thing to want in life. I have read many of the posts here and agree with some, but some I don't. For example, I've read many posts with messages like, "I'm single and looking for someone to chat with and get to know." There are others though that sound very desperate, sisters only in their 20s acting as if they're at the end of their ropes because they so desperately want to get married.

Sisters, first of all, a lot of times a big turn off to brothers is a sister who is "looking" and vice versa. You might be surprised by how attractive an independent, strong and confident sister is to a brother. And when I say "independent", obviously I don't mean irresponsibility or foolishness but rather a pure independence. You make your own living, you can stand on your own two feet, you're spiritually strong, you work to achieve your spiritual goals, you're a good and trustworthy friend. I am a 23 year old sister and all my life, the only goal people would set before me was marriage. Now, I am not downgrading marriage at all. In fact, I am currently married, but I didn't find him by "looking". RIGHT when I turned 18, I had people constantly buzzing around asking if I had a boyfriend yet and when I was going to start looking. I told them, "I'm not looking, and I don't plan to ever look.

When it happens, it happens. I'm going to go about my life doing lots of things with my single life, and when I meet the right one, it's going to hit me like lightning that he's the one I want." And for 4 years after graduation from high school, I spent my time pioneering, traveling to work seldom worked territories, vacationing with friends, working at Kingdom Hall builds, and going to college. I met my present husband at a Kingdom Hall build. And he had experience with other sisters who were labeled as "looking". They would gather around him in groups as I've seen many sisters do. Others were very forward and aggressive, asking him for his number and even going so far as to tell him they were looking to get married. Sometimes he would find out through the "single-brother grapevine" certain sisters were looking for a mate and would steer clear of them. And to give you a man's point of view, he later told me what attracted him to me. He said, "I could tell you were spiritual and independent. You didn't need a man to make it through life. But I knew you would dearly love the man you would marry." And I was so glad he told me that. And to flip the coin on that, my cousin, a man, had been looking since he was 18 too. I told him over and over and over, "Stop looking! All these sisters are getting the message that you're looking and that's why no one will date you. If you stop looking, I guarantee the right one will just fall into your lap out of no where." He finally listened. He pioneered, started his own business, and spent time working as a ministerial servant. A wonderful sister noticed him and they began dating. They are now married and planning to start a family.

So the bottom line? STOP LOOKING! It'll happen, sooner or later it'll happen. Enjoy your single lives, spend it well. Don't waste all your single years searching for a mate. Be happy in the life you have right now. And if marriage still doesn't happen for you, so what? After Armaggedon, you'll have eternity for that right one to come along. Sisters, marriage is a part of life...........but it's not the only part. Enjoy the life you have now, be independent and strong. Go out and achieve your spiritual goals, stay close to your friends in the congregation. And I guarantee you, that special someone WILL notice you. He won't notice you for your longing to get married. He'll notice you for your spirituality, your goodness, your independence, and for your "not-looking". :)

You are all wonderful sisters who can do so much to contribute to Jehovah's organization whether you're married or not. :)
