So you were never a witness? People that are worshippers of Jehovah love to study and do research.Yes, wholewheat, I see. Hmmmm. A real JW being disinterested at the Watchtower study? Impossible!
i may be alone here, but are you more interested in jw docrines, change of docrines, watchtowers, km's and othe jw publications now that you are an ex member as opposed to when you were a witness?.
i realised this the other day, when i was cleaning out a wardrobe and there was a "knowledge" book, i got so excited and read the whole thing, looking up scriptures as i went when they were quoted.
(this was accompanied by a soundtrack of consistant scoffs, snorts and "what the hells".?").

do all of you ex-jehovah's witnesses get upset when you are called an apostate?
you all call each other apostates, so why should you all get upset if i call you apostates?
if you don't like being called 'apostate', what title would you prefer?
wholewheat,
In the four days you have been posting on this board you used the word "apostate" or "ExJW" probably a thousand times. Are you obsessed?
yeah, why is some dipf&&ck named whole wheat allowed on this board?
i say we toast it have it for breakfast
wholewheat says:
'If your hand stumbles you, cut it off, and if your eye stumbles you, pluck it out.' This shows that stumbling your fellow man is a serious offense. Sometimes, when you show respect for others in areas where they are sensitive you can open the door to teach them about God's Kingdom. Upsetting them will surely close any door of opportunity.I see you have abandoned this thinking, wholewheat!
i'm curious: what rules have you dealt with that were just "too much" -- whether they were "official" (i.e.
in print) or not?.
i think a good, general one is r-rated movies.
Wholewheat says:
When someone dedicates their life to Jehovah, they make the choice to serve Him and uphold His standards. There are no "rules" as you describe them, just guidelines for clean living for a Christian to live by.
Some folks who have been disfellowshipped for violating the rules might think this notion is pretty silly. Do you really believe this?

My mother is an active dub and after a conversation with her recently I made a startling discovery. She had no idea that the 1914 generation understanding had changed! She still thought we were waiting on the WWI people to die!
there are certainly enough valid criticisms of the wts and the jw religion, but a significant number of often-repeated criticisms of the religion are, imnsho, just ludicruous and serves to take attention away from the real issues.
significant problems with the wts includes, but are not limited to, the shunning policy, the blood issue and of course the corporate policy of hiding child molestors.. here is a list of criticisms of the wts that i find particularly annoying to see:.
russell was a freemason (or, even worse, the wts is part of some other large-scale conspiracy like the illuminati).
I gues I'm just happy having the freedom to say whatever I want on this board. When someone is talking nonsense, they are usually called on it here. This balances out the forum. Possibly that is what JanH is trying to accomplish with this post. It does not bother me that some speculate about Russell being a Freemason. I would not be shocked if he was. It makes for some interesting conversation! It also does not hurt my feelings if someone challenges the accuracy of the New World Translation or the motives of the Watchtower Society in general.
So I say:
POST AWAY, FREAKS!
does anyone remember how the society joined the "disco sucks" movement of the late 70's?
i remember reading in the mags about how disco was created by homos and that it has an "immoral beat" (whatever that means!
) it was also mentioned not to go see "saturday night fever" because someone gets a blowjob in the movie.. in our congregation, we had a special meeting about disco because people would request disco songs at our once-a-month jw skating party at the local skating rink.
I guest I am one of the oldest Disjockey on the thread, and I was one of the first DJ to invent mixing records together.
24 years ago would put you in the same decade as the creation of turntablism. Mixing records started in the early 70's with early hip-hop breakabeats, correct? The first mixing of two records, (or at least the beatmatching and cutting) is most often accredited to Bronx D.J. and Jamaican immigrant Kool Herc, and then pioneered by the likes of Grandmaster Flash. If you were one of the inventors of mixing records, did you know these D.J.'s? what influence do you feel you had on these mixmasters? I don't doubt you, I am just curious.

"it's the end of the world as we know it ... and i feel fine" .
i have always loved this line, as it sums up my conversations with witnesses and family that remain witnesses.
when 9/11 happened i got a lot of letters, conversations, and phone calls from witnesses wanting my wife and i to become active again.
That's great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and
snakes, an aeroplane and Lenny Bruce is not afraid.

Look at that low playing! Fine, then. Uh oh,

Actually, I like being called an apostate - especially by a group of cultists. It demonstrates how well I have my head screwed on and all my mental facilities working. It has the added benefit of tarring the people who use the word. In the present atmosphere of awareness of the universality of truth, and the ubiquitious and non-judgemental nature of the Spirit, anyone engaging in the use of a term left over from the Spanish Inquisition is instantly identified as an intolerant religious troglodyte and a throwback to the ages of darkness.
So you go right ahead and be as perjorative as you can with that label. It does you great harm and it further confirms the rightness of my personal spiritual chosing.
Francois
That's one of the most intelligent and inspiring statements I've read in a long time. You are right, Francois. We should try as hard as we can to be apostates!
this is a both a departure from the conventional paleo-hellenic concepts of logic to a primitive yet equally tenable principle of,'actions speaking louder than words', and a synopsis.. the wts is but one of many groups which are devoted to the disintergration of the traditional or biblical family structure, via nefarious means, as part of a greater plan that envisions a two-class new world order resembling feudalism.. .
the philosophic means to achieve this state is non-biblical.
the wts repudiates the christian principle of "loving your neighbour as yourself " by adopting an altruistic approach which demands to 'love your neighbour above yourself ".

Fascinating post. Right on and refreshing. Thanks.
Totally fascinating!
Requests to dumb down, threats, insults . . . all fascinating.
I was not asking spaz to dumb down. I was calling him on his nonsensical and unnecessary technobabble. I must admit that one of my weaknesses is a low tolerance for pseudo-intellectual B.S. If someone communicates with me and possibly uses a word or phrase in a sentence that I am unfamiliar with, and I learn from it, that is fascinating and I am impressed. However, I do not believe spaz has yet made an attempt to communicate with us, and I have found his posts (in his short life here as spaz) to be unintelligent, annoying, and disturbing. Not disturbing as in fascinating, but disturbing as in get a life. The ideas that are decipherable are just plain B.S. I am not impressed, hence my comments.
