i am reading a book recomended by ginny tosken.. in it, it states that there were no walls around the city of jericho.

i seem to remember someone posting last week about this which contradicts the above.. uo

it seems to be the dream of many here to put the wt corperation out of business.

well, i hate to throw a bucket of cold water called reality on your dreams, but it is not likely to happen anytime soon.. the wt society has annual reveune of about $2.5 billion.

that figure was from recent disclosures they had to file as a not-for-profit company.

Ginny and Tina, you girls may be right. Who else would charge that Simon "blows them away" than lurker would? Simon hasn't had to do that much until today...

Plus why would Simon be such an interest to an outsider?

Simon isn't the power mogul that you seem to think he is. He has set this up as a site for any Witness, current or ex, to associate and share thoughts and experiences. You have come to this forum recently, but for a long time there was only a handful of members. There were no grand schemes of grandeur here. Just a simple meeting place.

I really think Simon would be totally embarrassed if someone bowed "down to his greatness", nor does he plan to "just blow them away when they happen to disagree with him like the might WT he derides does" - you really have no idea what Simon is like at all.

Seek Jehovah or His Organisation?

today's watchtower study (feb 15, p17) seeks to reassure jws that jehovah will take action against all opposers to the wtbts.. it states: "unscrupulous men slander jehovah's witnesses, branding them a 'dangerous cult'.

god is aware of their actions-and these will not go unpunished.

"(para 11).

Excellent points, AMNESIAN! When I was still a Witness I could see there were many things stated in the Watchtower that were clearly stretched by the writers to apply some scriptures to themselves, yet then applied other scriptures to whatever they saw fit, regardless of the context!
And like you, I wasn't encouraged by it, I was confused and DIScouraged The good thing was though, that I started to read the Bible more, and saw what it REALLY said.

Are we bitter people or just victims?

i am a jehovah's witness until today, but i don't know if i'll continue to be one of them tomorrow.. i said that because for once my eyes are open to reallity and i can clearly see that there is not organization beyond our creators name.. i see a lot or imperfect man trying to do what is right, but allways those desires are corrupted by their pride or greediness.. i think that in the watch tower organization are really a lot of people who really wants to served god.

but i think too that there are a lot a people who doesn't have love and mercy for their brothers.

a well known saying says that you will catch more fly with honey than with vinager.. this doesn't mean that people are allowed to do whatever they want without any respect for god's word in the bible.

Bitterness may be an emotion we have at first, when the rose-coloured glasses fall off and we see the organisation for what it really is.

But after a while, whether that be weeks, months or years, you have to come to an acceptance of sorts and move on with your life. The emotions may surface now and again, maybe when a friend or family member shuns us, or when we read of others' suffering at the hands of unloving elders.

But a harbouring of resentment or bitterness is not healthy. It is far better to turn that energy into positive pursuits, and not let the dictates of the Society affect our lives any more.
