Before cutting my hair my witness barber had to check with Bethel...really? Not a cult?
by Witness 007 ini was balding and grey so i asked my witness barber friend to "just shave it all off" many brothers were doing the comb over which looked friggin stupid.
but oh no in the 1990's this was rebellious he had to call a brother we knew at bethel to see if it was ok. we got his ok to go ahead but at the time i could help thinking about the no beard rule and how controlled and cultish we were..

Older generations had very special attitudes to hair. It was a bit shameful to be bold and maybe they also thought it gave the publisher a rough look -

Another silly Bible story....Joshua and the killing hailstones
by RULES & REGULATIONS in◄ joshua 10:11 ►.
and it came to pass, as they fled from before israel, and were in the going down to bethhoron, that the lord cast down great stones from heaven on them to azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of israel slew with the sword.. .
looks like the amorites came to the battle only wearing helmets.

Finkelstein,
I put much more emphasis on the new testament, the old testament belongs to a past covenant. But my general approach is that I believe in the power of God to do miracles. I was not there when Moses divided the red sea, but I unless the context tells me it is symbolic, I tend to take it at face value knowing that higher criticism and current scholarship make mistakes too. And yes, I am biased towards the Scriptures

Interestingly my father had a law degree but turned homeopath. Memories. Now I remember a brother gave a talk where he apparently attacked alternative medicine. After the talk my offended father was comforted by likeminded believers. So many believed that stuff

We can only marvel at the Sovereign will of God, The slaying of 185,000 enemy soldiers was nothing short of a miracle delievering his undeserving people.

Old paintings, especially those of crying children were bad to bring in.

They would probably say nothing could be more loving than timely discipline. Unless you are an apostate with s great hatred for Jehovah, this arrangement will coerce you to return to your loved ones, Jesus and most importantly Jehovah and his saving ark.

I think many eastern alternative doctors would recommend urine drinking for recycling 😄 -

What do The GB / JW`s now Say, when JC begins/began his 1,000 year reign.
by smiddy3 inmaybe i`m just getting old , jesus christ was king of the jews 2,000 years ago ,he was supposed to have returned in 1879 ?
and armageddon was to have occured in 1914 ,which of course didn`t happen .. and then wt in their wisdom adjusted that belief to mean that was when he was enthroned as king to sit at gods right hand .right ?
or am i wrong here.. or was he just to sit at gods right hand until god makes him a king after armageddon .?.

Isaac Newton predicted AD 2060 and he was probably smarter than the governing bodies. But I think Jesus Christ has always been King. He never left. If there is a yet future millenium, he will make some special event/announcement after it has ended. Prophecy is understood after it has happened. -

I am sure Jesus is quite capable of making it look that way. He is sovereign and do as he pleases
