confused with nowhere to turn
by Rebecca ini'm 43 and a divorced mother of 2. in january 2019 i met the man i thought i could spend the rest of my life with.
we were happy and even though our relationship wasn't perfect (like all relationships) i thought we had a chance and were building a life together with our young kids.
background on me - i've been divorced since 2012 after 12 years of marriage.

It seems better to try to move on. Sounds like a troubled guy and their shunning, blood etc could give you and your loved ones further headache. It is sadly a sad religion with a lot of not only heresy but also a lot of control and abuse -

Jesus said Truly I tell you This Day...
by JohnTron72 inadam was told not to eat from the tree of knowledge for upon the very day of eating from it, he would die.
i had someone say that god lied because, adam didn't die that day but, the scriptures say to god a day is as a thousand years so, since adam lived 900+ years after eating , he indeed died within god's view of a day.
methuselah the oldest to ever live 969 years still within god's set time of a day.

Adam and Eve probably died spiritually in that instant they ate the fruit as in Rom 5:14 and 1 Pet 4:6. But Jesus statement to the thief, that seems to be.an open question. Bullinger could be right but Jesus could also have made a special promise. The day could be literal, not necessarily 24 hours (remember Hugh Ross and his reasons to believe ministry states Adam was created between 10 and 100,000 years ago, day in the Bible is not necessarily 24 hs) or simply spiritual.

Adam could have put Jehovah In Paradox!
by JohnTron72 ini'm going to be the first and throw this out there for others but, from careful study of the scriptures i've found a loophole that even adam who was perfect at the time missed!
i'm sure everyone has heard the conundrum about ,"can god create a rock he can't lift?
" and if he can't create one he can't lift, then god cannot do everything" well that doesn't really matter since we know jehovah says himself he cannot lie right?

I remember dad was very concerned with what he saw as the biggest change between Russell and Rutherford, and the great error of Rutherford, namely that Jehovah was so furious with Adam that he would not allow him a resurrection in the millenium reign. But it was initially Russell that had started the no resurrection to second chance game in that he himself taught a) no resurrection for a few real baddies / "special cases of special unworthyness" lol and b) no resurrection for those that fell away after starting the high calling race for getting Jehovah nature. Next move for Rutherford was a new more "Evangelical" understanding of Matthew 25:31-45 limiting the resurrection candidates among the present living population. Some time after when the NWT came my father also noted the use of the term "memorial grave" rather than just "grave" in John 5:28. Now apparently you could make yourself unworthy of having a "memorial grave" and thus be remembered

I realize the main topic here is Adam and Eve through the lenses of JW teaching. But it is funny that common doctrine concerning them ignore that they were not allowed to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. So they were innocent and ignorant. It has been in the Bible ever since. They were warned but they did not know. humans keep repeating the same mistakes

jhine, well I did put the firebreathing part in brackets, just kidding.
Let me make it clear I think the NWT rendering of John 1:1 makes no sense in light of what the Logos is. It is a very peculiar Arian understanding. But ok, both most Trinitarians and Arians believe John is telling us of a relationship between two divine persons rather than identifying the Logos with God.
Tradtionally Evangelicals are very adamant that Colossians 1:16 is saying the Son created ALL THINGS. That is evident from any anti JW sites and any good conservative commentary as well. But do they believe the Son reconciled ALL THINGS on the Cross?
William Barclay says in his commentary among other things:
"We must note that Paul says that in Christ God was reconciling all things to himself. The Greek is a neuter (panta, Greek #3956). The point is that the reconciliation of God extends not only to all persons but to all creation, animate and inanimate. The vision of Paul was a universe in which not only the people but the very things were redeemed. This is an amazing thought. There is no doubt that Paul was thinking of the Gnostics. We will remember that they, regarding matter as essentially and incurably evil, therefore regarded the world as evil. But, as Paul sees it, the world is not evil. It is God's world and shares in the universal reconciliation."

Adam and Eve account is essentially about the human experience with sin. We start out not knowing good and evil like them and we fall pr God's ordained design. Death is the will of God. Praise God for his mighty redemption 😘. I recommend reading Irenaeus in his proof of the apostolic preaching chapter 14 ☺️ -

Well John, they are atheists and the watchtower let them down. No, the last days are long gone as they related to the old "org" / covenant. I dont think we have to imagine a literal Adam and Eve. We dont need them to be that. Not only is context against a literal interpretation, we have all the evidence of what the edenic account represents in todays newspapers. Nor do we need a literal flood. They did happen earlier in time, but again the symbolic value of escaping this world of corruption can not be missed. Denis Lamoureux, professor in both theology and biology wrote a good book on that. The talk about slavery, well they were the working class of biblical times, I doubt many of them were as bad off as British kids during the industrial rev. I personally find the Words of the blessed Colossians book 4:1 comforting and charming "be a good master remembering that you got a Lord too". Bad people will be bad whatever the excuse Revelation 22:11. God allows this world to be one of tough experience, progression and tough love as well.

All this JW broadcasting and internet stuff is very funny to me. When I was dragged to the meetings in the 80s, it was all boring talks, uncomfortable chairs and strange smells. A few years ago a friend told me about the all the new stuff and I went online and saw the cheerful disney songs and cartoons. From a marketing and presentation standpoint, the problem is the old men. They are strange and not in any way charming or sexy or whatever else an appealing presentation would need.

It is funny all the talk is about Adam and Eve, not the humans of Genesis 1
