I believe the new testament was written for Christians in general and to a specific original audience. Old testament is old history. All of it should be read with context, litterary style and original audience in mind. I think the idea of two classes of believers, one heavenly, one earthly, made JWs look too much to the old testament and imo confuse the two testaments.

Actually the incredible thing about those verses is the idea that a slave owner could be punished. For the time and age, that idea is utterly insane.This was not written yesterday. I am pretty sure some slaveowners back then would be offended and considering these verses very offending to their humanity. Totally outdated to day obviously. I might add i dont subscribe to the idea that you have to study all sorts of things. I know some Christian apologists use that and say well I studied this and that religion. It interests me little more than a rat's ass. You study what appeals to your mind and what God leads you too. If other people care about it too, then be my guest. That is why audience relevant new testament study is my main interest
