Well that might be true although I consider it pretty problematic that a created being should be excluded from all ☺️. But it gets worse. Both JWs and "firebreathing" evangelicals utterly deny Colossians 1:20. So the evangelicals are being a wee bit hypocritical ☺️

Jhine, ofcourse the org can not justify their teaching. Jesus is Jehovah and worshipped (Hebrews 1:6 etc). What neither jw nor most anti jw sites will tell you, is that John did not merely use the Word / Logos as a title of God. In John's day the Word was known in Hellenist philosophy as a concept, the cause and reason behlnd all things. How befitting for John to identify the Lord with that. Paul uses similar thought in Colossians 1, Ephesians 1. Also in Hebrews 1. You can find the famous Greek scholar William Barclays commentary in the new testament online ☺️

Why is he spiritual Israel not innumerable?
by Salomo inplease share this question.
why is he spiritual israel not innumerable?.
the literal seed of abraham was innumerable (heb 11:12; gen 22:17; 1ki 4:20).

The whole distinguishing between earthly and heavenly Hope is due to Russell and Rutherfords speculations. Russell imagined that those running for the high calling would receive the nature of Jehovah if their works were approved. Such an honour could not be bestowed upon any ol Joe and thus the idea of two classes was needed. We should not derive our doctrine from speculations about such difficult text as revelation. According to 1 Tim 4v10, Jesus Christ is the saviour of all, especially believers. The information concerning the salvation of the unbeliever and the devils is unclear and clouded, we are only told of the ultimate purpose (Colossians 1:20).

Happy Alcoholic Jehovah's Witnesses
by The Bethelite infor many years since the witness organization, after i have told people that i'm no longer a jehovah's witness, people would say "oh the religion were people are not allowed to drink!".
"no they drink alright.....they can't do much of anything else but they do drink!".
in fact the first place i ever got drunk was bethel.

My mother loved telling the story of a once powerful JW leader she met old, weak, drunk and smelly in the mall with a lot of booz in his basket. He had df ed many people. She was especially angry when they lured people of low intelligence that could barely read or speak coherently into baptism and then df ed them for minor issues . Remember we are to be strong in the Spirit, he apparently told her.

Which songs give you goosebumps?
by LoveUniHateExams ini don't know if this topic has been covered before - it might 've been.. i also recommend flipper's excellent music thread ('what songs have you been listening to?
', or similar).. but, i'd just like to start a thread about certain songs giving me goosebumps.
y'know, when you hear a song that profoundly effects you in some difficult-to-describe way and the hairs on your arm stand on end even though the room temperature's comfortably warm.. so, which songs give you goosebumps?.

Very nice site. As a Modalist Preterist Universalist believer in Christ, I am heretical in all views, but I enjoy especially the timeline as one interested in Watchtower history and errors

Double Standards of the Watchtower
by Vanderhoven7 inare you aware of any double standards promoted by the organization of jehovah's witnesses?
here a a few i am aware of:.
1. the wts equated joining the ymca with apostasy but felt free to join the un for 10 years (1991-2001).

Yes clearly, people fail because they are people. Some people are better than other people, and some people are really bad. They are also good at using religion as excuse.

Rec'd a letter from my Dad - need some advice...
by Fadeaway3pointer infader here - last meeting was in autumn 2005. lurker on this site and others.
not one to get all controversial.. typical situation, pretty much a born in and left the church at age 38 and never looked back.. i'm 53 now, parents getting older - late 70s but very active, dad is still an elder.. parents, in laws, brother and brother-in-law still uber active jws.. my family (wife and 2 adult children) out since 2005.. we have stayed close to our parents - we have treaded religion lightly and have had a pretty good relationship and have kept our personal lives and beliefs/opinions separated from them.
this was intentional - as we love them and do not want anything to cause shunning since they are getting older and want to be there for them and we respect their beliefs.. got this letter today.

If I received such a letter and wanted to give a constructive response, I would write back and ask them to justify their position from a biblical viewpoint. It probably accomplishes nothing but there is a fool's hope.
