i have read in this forum many compelling stories of people who were sexually abused as minors while associated with the jw's.
i need to be directed to threads where victims tell their stories (preferably if these ended up in court) of abuse and where there was this key element to the story: they were intimidated with threats of excommunication to not report their abuse to authorities and/or they suffered retaliation in the form of disfellowshipping/disassociation for reporting the crime to the authorities.
i recall one story, that i really would like to find again, when someone went to the elders with a complaint of having been sexually abused, the elders confronted the abuser and he denied.
I have read of people threatened with "you could be sued for slander" but no one has ever laid out just how or by who.
There is often this big boogieman threat thing held over jw heads and useful to them as the elders using it know the average and in the main jw have scant education and even less in such matters as being sued for slander.
maybe someone can help me here:when i got baptized at age 23, an elder dropped a bombshell on me.
he said that the new testament wasn't written for the great crowd (me).
he said that it only applies to the anointed, and "by extension" the nt applies to the great crowd.
This is classic wt speak. By denying the NT they can stick to the old with all its rules rules and more rules so they can retain their power.

when i see watchtower videos or interviews i can’t help but notice how bland and boring jws really are!
they are so vanilla.
no excitement, just robotic conversation.. what the hell happened to these people?

there were numerous accounts given to the CARC.
i live with my parents in law and yesterday, my mother in-law was very nervous about an email she got from the brothers in her congregation.
it was asking if she would be able to receive people over at our house should there be a catastrophe.
so, she asked me if i would agree with this.

i was told but can not find anything concrete that the cult gb directs cult members to burn old cult books and literature.

i remember the message coming out to get rid of the older CD library discs.
Now i checked the new disc as to a part of the old blue "truth" book and what it quoted was different from what the book originally said.
Its all about re-writing history,
back in the day, tons of witnesses were brought in the “back room “ to be counseled by elders because of their dress and grooming.
some elders frowned on mustaches or hair that went past a certain point on a male.
women were regularly harassed because their skirt was too long or too short or had a slit on the side.
A brother would wear rings and was told not too.
i was raised as a jw and left the group as many of the teachings don’t align with my core values.
now, forward almost 10 years, my wife and i are raising our kids through puberty and i have to admit, this challenge is not easy and seems to be even more difficult in that my own upbringing was very different.
i find it hard to compare how i was raised with what i now must do for my own kids.
