LIFE! It's a wonderful life, even if it's not always easy.
Love NVR2L8'S PHRASE ABOUT "Remove the wt glasses and see with my own eyes"! Perfect!
more than one thing for me, but i have learned to enjoy festivals, and just enjoying free time.
it's not that the org wouldn't allow it, i just felt i shouldn't.
there are others, of course, and i really have been happier and good things have come my way since i left.

someting happened yesterday that i thought might be noteworty enough to relate to you here.. mrs. eyz and i were invited to my new boss's home for his annual end of summer party.
it's a pretty big deal....his is a name known locally (i'll call him j.r.) a really nice interesting guy who's held a number of high level and politically connected jobs.
there was to be music, dancing, wine and reprotedly lots of well dressed, well educated, well to do and influential people (oh yes...and us) in attendance.. anyway we thought we'd make an occasion out of it and got ourselves spiffed up which involved new outfits and extra mirror time before we left home.
I love the way you handled the situation! Great job!
(Although I still don't get why they shun the way they do, they have twisted scripture to fit their ideas)
Hope your son is doing well!
today i interviewed an it company to support my business run from home.. .
the doorbell rings and i ask my girlfriend to answer the door.. .
i meet a trendy young woman and a hip muslim.
May I ask if you told them the reason they were not awarded the contract, usual? I mean the fact that the young man declined to shake your girlfriends hand? He may want to find a different line of work.
I must say, the vicousness of the bigotry on here is a little frightening! Yes, there are the extremist muslims who must be stopped, and frankly, the fact that they are probably already in this country scares the hell out of me. They are pure evil!
But to categorize every muslim in the same way is unfair. Are all Catholics pedophiles? Of course not!
... but most of my new (post jw) friends either don't know my birth date (if people don't specifically ask i won't tell them), or they are 2500 kilometers away in the netherlands... so all that's left to celebrate with me are my hubby, the two doggies, cat and my two rabbits... mixed feelings, i miss my friends and family around and haven't found friends in spain yet.
luckily our daughter will visit us the end of the month... and yesterday we've found a new rental house and we're moving into it next month already!
i'm thrilled and really looking forward to it, then we will finally be able to let all the rest of our belongings come to spain (2/3 of our stuff is stored in the netherlands).. so with this in mind, i'll just say 'happy birthday to me' and will enjoy my third birthday in espana .
Happy belated Birthday! Hope it was a blast!
you non-jws who have jw mates or anyone interested in responding.
do you or would you tell extended family that your spouse is a jw.
i ask because i have a couple of other relatives who are jws who pulled away from the family the years ago that caused some hurt to family that use to be close to them.
Why don't you ask your wife if she wants them to be told, or if she sees no reason to? Perhaps she doesn't take the few disparging comments they have made about jw's personally, and doesn't see it as a big deal if they know or not.
Hers is the opinion that matters.
i stayed home sick from work the other day and noticed a car group pull up to my neighbor's house.
she's a stay-at-home mom.
i decided it was time to retrieve something from my truck to see if i could recognize the visiting sisters.
I don't see any harm in letting the neighbor know in a non-judgemental way that you were once a jw, and suggesting the jwfacts website to her. If she asks questions, could you answer them in a matter of fact tone, w/o malice or anger? Do you have access to a tract that refutes any jw teachings? She has children, do it for them. You could then go on to small talk about something else. The ball would then be in her court.
in january or february of this year, my father was df'd for viewing pornography.
he was diagnosed with a rare-ish lung cancer in august, it doesn't have good recovery odds.
he had been struggling with a porn problem for awhile, asking the 'brothers' for help.
I'm so sorry to hear about your father, Painted.
Will your Mother give him the cards if they are sent? I hope you and your siblings are able to speak with him on the phone frequently, even if the conversations are brief. Will it be long before he can sit at the computer?
I will say a prayer for him, and I hope your Mom is not being a mean as you suspect to him. If she is, perhaps you could point out examples of Jesus being kind in the Bible?
Will be pm'ing you.
"from time to time, there have arisen from among the ranks of jehovah's people those, who, like the original satan, have adopted an independent, faultfinding attitude...they say that it is sufficient to read the bible exclusively, either alone or in small groups at home.
but, strangely, through such 'bible reading,' they have reverted right back to the apostate doctrines that commentaries by christendom's clergy were teaching 100 years ago.
the watchtower, aug. 15, 1981.. .
That anyone could hear/read that and not have a siren go off in their head is alarming!
the wife is starting to pull away from my family.
its my fault but i couldnt help it.
my fault because for years my sistets were indifferent to my wifes jwness.
It will be fine if you don't make a big deal about the bday celebration part of it. Just how good the food was, how much fun the kids had swimming, Guess what so & so said, etc. We missed you being with us for family fun.
i've seen elders over the years openly flaunt "the rules", butt-kiss (the co especially), show favoritism and appoint brothers they like and not appoint brothers that should of been appointed for some trivial reason.
many lord their "power" over the friends in blatant violation of scriptures and watchowers that specifically say that they shouldn't lord themselves over the flock.
they pretty much do what they want!
The first congregation I was in had really nice, sincere elders. Although, as you ststed, ones whose fathers/grandfathers were elders were moved up the ladder quickly while some who seemed to be equally/better qualified, had to wait. But in that congregation, there were no jerks.
I heard stories about the second congregation, but they were things from b4 I got there, but those seemed nice enough as well. Although one or two of the wives were a bit full of themselves.
