That's the reason why God's name doesn't appear anywhere in the 5000 copies of the NT, except for two occurrences of the short form in Revelation. Only in the NWT was it "artificially" introduced about 237 times, if I remember correctly. Even so, the name Jesus appears more than 300 times, again, if I'm not mistaken. This says quite a lot about the subject!

What Name Does the New Testament Emphasize - Jehovah or Jesus?
by Vanderhoven7 init seems to me scripturally speaking, that jehovah's witnesses are emphasizing the wrong name.. it should be jesus, not jehovah.
who is the way, the truth and the life?
(john 14:6).

Anyone else heard this?
by BoogerMan inthe other day, i chatted to an elderly woman and her daughter who was about 45-50. total strangers.. we were discussing covid when the daughter said, "my neighbor studies with jw's, and the jw's told her 3 months before the virus started, that they had to stop going from door to door because something was coming.".
i've never heard anything like this before - have you?.

That's an easy one! Here in Portugal, our government, after knowing about what was going on in China and one or two other European countries, said it wouldn't reach us! But I could see they were wrong... And only some time after did the virus cross the Atlantic. So, am I a prophet or just someone who can use his head to think? The WT loves to take advantage of events to prove them right but it's very easy to predict anything AFTER it has occurred. It's just a matter of distorting facts!

"Why would anyone build a house in this system of things?"
by Queequeg inrecent posts about elders telling people to quit their jobs etc.
reminded me of this.. when i was in my early twenties i decided that i really wanted to build a house (id always wanted to, even as a kid).
i justified my "selfish" desire in my own mind by thinking that once we were living in it we'd have more freedom and skills to volunteer to do things like quickbuilds and international construction (actually, it really did work out that way).

I'm not sure that when they say that "what is said in those messages applies to all of God’s people today" means that they are admitting that the NT was written to all, including the non-anointed JWs. Their use of language is very tricky... BTW, didn't Jesus say that he needed to convey his message to the non-believersso that they could be saved? So, didn't that mean that the NT was written for all humanity too?

A little boy will lead them [i.e. the wolf...the leopard...the lion. Is. 11:6-9]
by Wonderment indon't know if this subject has been touched on here before, but i have wondered at times, how much literalness can be applied to this messianic prophecy within a paradise setting (assuming one probable interpretation of is.
the wt presents a mental image of complete harmony between animal and mankind.. does this biblical passage somehow indicate that existing wild beasts will feed on vegetation alone.
animals are not spoken of living forever in the bible.

Charles Russell Apologetics
by Vanderhoven7 injust ran across a russell apologetic site that i think people will find interesting as well as informative.. ron day writes:.
charles taze russell never “expected” christ to return in 1874. before 1876, russell had rejected the date setting of the second adventists.
in 1876, he accepted barbour’s conclusion that christ had returned in 1874. yes, he died in 1916, still holding to the belief that christ had returned in 1874.. until 1904, russell accepted barbour’s belief that armageddon (the time of trouble) had begun in 1874, and that it was to end in 1914. he rejected this in 1904, about ten years before 1914. in 1904, he came to understand that the time of trouble begins after the ending of the times of the gentiles.. russell, however, never believed in the kind of armageddon that is preached by the jehovah’s witnesses.

Fascinating Quotations of The Faithful Slave
by Vanderhoven7 indo you have any amazing quotations that have been produced by the faithful slave over the years?.
remember it's important that we should learn to love and value truth for it’s own sake; to respect and honor it by owning and acknowledging it wherever we find it and by whomever presented.
a truth presented by the faithful slave himself is just as true as a truth stated by god.. share some of those amazing quotations that have fascinated you.

Sixteen years later and wow is life different
by BlackSwan of Memphis ini have no idea if this is the right place to post this.
if you're just leaving the witnesses or questioning and toying with the idea of leaving..... life goes by fast.
and either you rip the band aid off and deal with it or let it fester and eat you alive.
