  Mark Sanderson wears an Apple Watch at regional convention

  last weekend was regional convention and mark sanderson was the bethel speaker for the last talks every day.

  his talks were video streamed from zurich to other cities in switzerland, austria and germany.

  one interesting point was that he wore an apple watch, stainless steel edition (link).

  As you're headed north on the Gowanus Expwy, just before the now defunct HQ, there is a gigantic billboard that always has an Apple Ad on it. Sometimes its the watch. Sometimes it's the MacBook or Ipad. Every time I pass by it makes me think of the line from Silence of the Lambs.

  What is the real purpose of attending your JC?

  i was compelled to ask this question because i have seen several of the youtube videos on jcs.

  on striking similarity among all these videos is that most of the people bringing the arguments to the elders are pretty much atheists or have turned to another religion altogether.. i can easily see that the common concern in most of the people involved, is their ability to keep in touch with family and friends, which by all means would be my concern as well, when and if i ever end up in one.. however, i can't help but to notice something.

  it is difficult enough to think of the day that the wt would accept a loose canon in their ranks, let alone someone who openly claims to no longer believe in god.

  Instead of arguing about failed doctrine etc. What if you asked your JC to prove scientifically that Adam and Eve were literally the first humans on earth 6000 yrs ago?

  I know the eldumbs would talk about satan's misleading, blah blah blah. But math and science are a bitch when it comes to this. The evidence is massive that the Eden story is just that, a story. And their entire narrative rests on this one lynch pin. No Adam, no original sin. No kingdom promise and on and on.......

  Why JW's Rave So Much About Conventions

  now, they also plaster these affirmations all over social media, "this is the best life", “so blessed”, “best convention”.. why the gushing?

  have you ever heard anyone say, “mmmm it was ok”?

  very insightful article by a great thinker.

  it's well worth taking the time to read his analysis of the tensions in the west between those whose instincts are to embrace mass immigration and those see it as a threat to national culture.. automatically dismissing opposition to globalisation as "racism pure and simple" is largely responsible for reactions like the brexit vote, and may yet put trump in the whitehouse.

  his idea, based on work by karen stenner is that "authoritarians" combine forces with "status quo conservatives" to put a stop to the erosion of social norms.. his article is published here....

  Thoughtful and well written. I'm not sure that I agree with his conclusion that it is the responsibility of globalists to tone down their message in order to prevent a nationalist backlash. It sounds somewhat like a parent that is afraid to upset a toddler because they don't want him to throw a tantrum. (simplistic, I realize)

  The tide of immigration and globalism is not going to change. Economic forces seem to guarantee this. The challenge lies in getting people to lose their fear of social change while at the same time making sure that those that are negatively impacted economically aren't just left hanging. No easy task, especially while the rhetoric on either side devolves into name calling.

  Being a cop is beyond dangerous.....which doesn't justify the open murder of blacks.

  My first thought about the shooting in the Twin Cites was, "Why is a cafeteria worker carrying a gun while out on a drive with his girlfriend and her daughter?"
