I would have told her it wasn't her place to counsel me. Being that she has a HEAD. I bet her hubby would scold her for bypassing his HeadSHI*... JW's are HUGE on that HeadSHI*!

17Passing out invites after the meeting
by 2tone inthere was an experience i had at the kingdom hall not to long ago.. my family was hosting a party or some sort.
i had to hand out a couple invites after the meeting.
they were sealed in envelopes.

My son was murdered today
by truman ini have been on this site daily, almost from its beginning, since i left the jws in 2001, but i have been more of a reader than a poster, as you can see from my post count.
i know few here know me, although i know many of you through reading your posts.
maybe it is not right to ask for support, when i generally stay quietly in the background of this forum, but i want only to speak a human misery of the deepest kind.

This is awful. I have no words that can ease your pain or soothe you in any way. Being a father, I know the dread one feels when we think of the things this world can do to our children. You and you loved ones have my deepest sympathy and condolences. This forum is about support. I think I can speak for everyone here when I say that we are here for you.

Was everyone surprised by how nice worldly people can be?
by Inisc ini, like most born ins grew up being taught that everyone who was not a jw was inherently wicked, that they were dishonest, unloving, selfish, bad parents who don't care about their children, and also sad empty people with no direction in life.. as i grew older i started to see that this wasn't always true with every one, that what i was taught wasn't equating with what i was seeing.. by high school i could see that my friends at school, (yes worldly friends eek!
) we're actually decent people with morals, they may have engaged in a little fornication here and there but not promiscuously, and they were good honest people, with goals and parents that cared for them.. but after high school i was phsycologicaly bullied into ceasing contact with my friends altogether, leaving me with little contact with outside world, and the cult mentality had more room to grow, not fully, but enough to unconsciously not fully trust 'worldly' people.. however, once i'd left the org and began to meet people again, i was amazed at actually how good, honest, loving, kind, and caring many people can be!
who love their spouses and children and try their very best to be good parents and partners.

My folks joined in 68 I think so I was around 5 when they began studying and in first grade when they were baptized. I knew LOTS of good people outside the tower. Aside from the punks who bullied me for not saluting the flag and doing Chrismas projects everyone including most of the teachers were good people. My best friend I now have had for about 40 years. Non denominational Christian guy. He and his family are the best people I ever met. Most jw's in my eyes were hypocrites, back biters and @ssh0les in general.

Awesome idea for a prank.
by baltar447 init would be super funny to pay a non-dub like, $20 to dress up like a smurf and try to attend a meeting at a kh or assembly while someone else posing as a dub films the whole thing.
maybe the plant could even wear a changable disguise and duck under his seat, quickly put smurf attire on, stand up, scream, "i'm tired of this shit!
", and run out of the assembly hall.. it would be epic.

I think it'd be funny to put on a badge, go unshaven and unwashed to one of the approved hotels and be abnoxious about the GOOD NEWS! Someone here posted once about singing We're Jehovah's Witnesses late at night through the hotel corridors too.

The one where the bad guy got tent staked through the head. What made it stand out to me was the Highland congo in Albuquerque a costume party with the jw's dressed as Bible characters. One of the elders' sons went with some aluminum foil fashioned into a tent stake and it looked like it was passed through his head. He was of course scolded for doing that.

Anyone been to a meeting after a drink...or three?
by MMXIV ini recall going to the second half of a thursday night meeting after what was meant to be a cheeky after work beer (three strong beers downed quickly on an empty stomach).
i would have been ok had a caring elder not decided to grab me for some encouragement afterwards.. i hoped the faint odor of smoke on my clothes (smoking in pubs was still the done thing in those days) wouldn't be noticed but hard to hide alcohol on the breath.
i tried to say very little and talk in a way that avoided me beathing over him.

by Gayle inwt out on jw.org now,,shows front page laptop being used on field service call along with sign language.. will jws soon be bringing a laptop for all door to door presentations in the future?

Bill Maher makes JW joke
by undercover ini tired to find a youtube clip of this but couldn't.... but anyway, on real time a couple of weeks ago, during his opening monologue, bill maher was talking about the trayvon martin/zimmerman deal and he made mention of florida's "stand your ground" law, which allows an individual more leeway in using deadly force to defend against what they percieve as a threat to self or property.. going by memory, so i may not have the quote exactly correct but basically he joked, "good thing they don't have "stand your ground" here (california).
my front lawn would be littered with jehovah's witnesses".
