2012 report analysis - countries with reduced publisher figures
by cedars ini've just started munching through the figures for 2012 in the new 2013 yearbook, now available on jw.org.. i thought you might be interested to see which countries saw "negative growth" over 2012.. these are as follows.... .
*sudan is so dramatically reduced because south sudan is now independent and the society has adjusted the publisher figures accordingly.. .
countries added.

It might be interesting about Poland because a large number of Polish have come to the UK over the last year. However the Polish reduction should become the UK growth...

Small Victories!
by emperorslaundrist inmy husband's cult personality has relaxed since he's been seeing me go out in service and underline my watchtower, so yesterday it felt right to nudge him just a little more.
"you know, i normally love the watchtower articles but the one i'm studying for tomorrow is just crazy.
i'm beginning to think that there's a narcissist somewhere in the writing department.

That's great EL! Looks like it's starting to work for you. This is just the way I try with my hubby, find his weak spot over something, plant a few seeds and let him mull it over. It's a long haul and sometimes I feel like I'm getting somewhere, sometimes I feel like pulling my hair out but I'm sure that patience will win out eventually!

Something's missing
by Anony Mous ini haven't been on here much in the last couple of months.
but i have shared custody so my ex keeps me informed of 'witness holidays' where she would have custody and i would get make up time.
what's missing is the 3 day conventions.

I saw on our notice board last night at the KH of all the convention dates for all over the UK in the summer. So it's still the same..

The Gentile Times Reconsidered (607 B.C.E.) -Part A1 - Jeremiah 25:10-12 Reviewed
by FaceTheFacts induring the last three to four months, i have spent a great deal of time sinking my teeth into various critical biblical commentaries and lexicons.
naturally, after beginning to research "the truth about the truth" one of the most commonplace yet controversial arguments revolve around the "gentile times" doctrine (i.e.
the application of the seven times of daniel 4 from 607 b.c.e.

Recovery, StillRecovery, OlinMoyle41, Ethos, FaceTheFacts.... who next? It makes a total mockery of your debates because you can't even be honest about who/what you are...

If you're not these 'past members' then why don't you go to the threads that they/he started on exactly this subject (which has been done to death) and read those. You have not put forward any arguments that they haven't tried and have proved nothing. If you're happy with it then why don't you just go away and live with it. Why do you have to keep going over and over and over it? It's becoming boring....

I think if anyone has read Gentile Times Reconsidered and still believes in 607BCE as the date for the destruction of Jerusalem then they are a lost cause. If FtF wants to carry on believing it then it's his choice but why continue to try to prove the opposite to him when he refuses to see it despite all the logical arguments. It's just like the tiger that chased his tail till he turned into butter!!

Who or what is to blame for the Newtown CT shooting?
by BreathoftheIndianNose inif events like the recent school shooting in newtown are to be avoided from here on out, we must understand who or what is to blame.
there is a reason that it happend, maybe it was simple or maybe it was very complex, but this didn't just simply happen.
a series of events transpired that inspired or even just allowed adam lanza to commit this terrible atrocity.

Maybe he had bad parenting. Maybe he spent a childhood getting what he wanted when he wanted it. He was allowed to play violent video games. His parents didn't have a clue what he was up to. He had acess to guns in a society where everyone has them. Violent movies and video games were easily available and made him believe that life is easy come easy go, it's not real. He had no role models to show him anything different. He saw a society where self is the most important person, it doesn't matter about anyone else. Was he taught any values? Was he taught manners? Was he taught to think of others? Who knows? If he had a mental health problem, did anyone really care?
