Someone should only ever get baptised if it's what they really want! (In any religion). If it's not what you want then DON'T do it! Don't allow yourself to be coerced or emotionally blackmailed into something this serious, something you don't want to do. The repercussions will be far reaching. If you leave without being baptised then your parents will still feel they are able to have a relationship with you. If you leave after baptism then they will feel they have to cut you off. Please think seriously about this.

Is Richard Dawkins an ostentatious acrimonious supercilious pusillanimous calumnious censorious vituperative querulous embittered obsessive and bombastic bully?
by slimboyfat inrichard dawkins closes down his free-thinking/free-thought site (www.richarddawkins.net) for 30 days to reconfigure it 'because too many morons were contributing drivel' (he doesn't put it quite like that!
) he is then surprised because those self-same contributors call him everything under the sun (i won't repeat the names flung at him on our ultra -refined boards).
he now wants the site more or less 'peer-reviewed' (by analogy with papers to learned/scientific journals having to be vetted by vips).

I've watched some of his videos and whether he's right or wrong in what he believes he came across to me as being condescending, patronising and supercilious... put me right off. Just my 2 pennyworth.

SloppyJoe, I do pretty much the same as you although my FS is Rvs that have had the mags for years and I just pass the time of day knowing they'll never progress to anything else. At the same time no one else will bother them as they will say I call on them. I don't do first call. I go to maybe 3 or 4 meetings a month, don't sing, don't comment, don't do talks. I don't like it but same as you I have family that I don't want cut off from me.

I reckon it'll be George, with a combination of Charles, Michael and possibly Spencer as his other names.

When I was very young I found it more of a 'curiosity' than anything else. As I got older and the JW propaganda kicked in I found seeing two guys or two girls kissing repugnant. I still felt though, that it was none of my business what people choose to do. When I started work there were two guys that were gay (not with each other), one was very camp and the other you would never have guessed. The 'camp' guy was lovely and I liked him a lot, the other guy was horrid. I realised that it doesn't matter what sexual orientation you have, everyone is a unique individual. In the 80's there seemed to be a lot of 'gays' in the music industry and also on TV and I got used to it and got to accept who they were as people and not whether they were gay or not. Since coming on here and reading so many heart breaking stories of young gay JWs and their struggles it made me realise how terrible it is for them growing up in such a homophobic atmosphere. The guilt and shame they feel, the struggle to hide what they are and not be able to be themselves and to be loved and accepted for who they are and the fight within themselves and finally breaking free to be who they truly want to be and live a happy life, something everyone is entitled to. Now I only feel disgust towards those unfeeling, hateful homophobes who can't see the unique person behind the label.

What's The STRANGEST Thing You've Seen At A Kingdom Hall?
by minimus ini saw a fight break out on the platform between an elder and a unbelieving husband who accused the elder of f---ing his wife.
he then threw the lectern on the floor and pushed the elder.
it was cool.......

Conspiracy Theorists Vindicated?
by metatron inhttp://www.blacklistednews.com/new_studies%3a_%e2%80%98conspiracy_theorists%e2%80%99_sane%3b_government_dupes_crazy%2c_hostile/27293/0/38/38/y/m.html.
actually, i think creating conspiracies is one of the primary products of modern government.
if citizens aren't responsible and involved enough, then crafted lies follow.. .

A 'conspiracy theorist' is simply someone who doesn't accept everything at face value and doesn't naively believe everything the government tells them. Sure some things are over the top but it would be unwise to believe that the government tells nothing but the truth.
