I remember when one of mine when he was about 6 stole something from his teacher and hid it at home. I found it and asked him about it. He got uncomfortable and I discovered the truth. I took him to his teacher the next day and asked to see her privately and got him him to own up to her, to return what he'd stolen and to apologise to her. Believe me he was so embarrassed he never tried it again.

I am new here and need help...or just a listening ear
by Fallingaway inmy husband and i have two small children, one of which recently became an unbaptised publisher and joined the school.
my husband is an elder and firmly committed to our family and loves me deeply as i love him.
i would like to find a way for all of us to fade away as we have family in the organization that we do not want to lose.

Hello fallingaway. I really feel for you and understand where you're coming from. I too am an elder's wife but with grown up children, my husband also knows how I feel about things and all my doubts and questions. I too still go because of family (as well as lifelong friends). It's a hard place to be. I believe myself that losing faith in a religious organisation does not mean also having to lose faith in God. For some it does happen but I've managed to hold on to it through prayer and bible reading, as well as reading other many christian websites on topics I had a struggle understanding. They have been great! Also this place is great for being able to have a rant and get things off your chest!

Another sad non jw falling for a baptised jw girl story
by spirituk inok ,so this is my story , this jw girl came on vacation in my country as a friend of my girl-cousin who is not a jw but were classmates at uni .
my cousin introduced her to me but she didnt tell me that she was a jw from the very first moment we flirt each other.we went on beach ,on bars ,cafes etc and she acted so wordly ,in fact i thought she could be a good one night stand with her behaviour .never saw anything weird about her that could lead me to question something, with the peak in the club where we danced together while hugging very passionatly .
i tried to kiss her that night but she kept her distance , i didnt notice any bad on that.anyway, next day we flirt again at the the beach and at night too .

Poor guy!! Another one! These jw girls seem to just want to play games. Get a guy to fall in love with her, get the guilt trips then dump him.
I would say run away if you can but you've asked us not to say that. So alternatives? Her brother is a faded JW, means he doesn't want it anymore and is cool with you. Could you get in touch with him, get him on side? Maybe he could help you?

The New Diary of Winston Smith
by WinstonSmith inwe had to go off grid for a time, time and half a time as we thought we had been outed.
fortunately it was a false alarm, but it was a stressful time.
i asked for my original diary thread to be deleted in case there could be anything on there to identlfy mrs smith and i. i am always very careful when posting, and am sure there was nothing on there, but felt it best to have it removed in order to be as cautious as a dove.

Winston, I love reading your experiences with sister T. I'm having the same experience with my best friend. It's wonderful seeing those 'light bulb' moments when something you say clicks in place and you can almost see the cogs in the brain working! We had an hour long chat today and I mentioned about the 'present truths' and said how can truth change? It's either truth or it isn't. That was a light bulb moment for her. I also asked her who gave the FDS their title? Was it Jesus or themselves? Where in the bible does it say they are the FDS. That was another light bulb moment for her. It's awesome! I've waited and bided my time before I started telling her things. Something happened a few weeks ago to affect her and made her start asking questions. Now she's having serious doubts and of course I'm there to help her! She told me she only wants to carry on going for her family's sake. I told her me too. It feels such a burden has fallen off me having someone else I can share all my doubts and fears with in the real world, it's been a pretty lonely place up till now! Now it feels I have someone I can really share things with!!

Only you can know what is the right thing for both yourself and your mother Roberta. It seems she is having a beautiful experience right now as Tammy said, I've heard that many people in their passing moments experience this, whatever it may be. I hope it's comforting to you.
Sending you lots of love and hugs

Are Jehovah's Witnesses a hierarchical religion? And does it matter?
by cedars inthis is the title of my latest article, which is available on the link below.... http://jwsurvey.org/cedars-blog/are-jehovahs-witnesses-a-hierarchical-religion-and-does-it-matter.
inspired by the illustration in the april 15th watchtower (above), i thought it would be worthwhile to further explore this facet of the society for two reasons.... because the society has spent decades criticizing the catholic church for being hierarchical, andbecause the society has recently become more open about its hierarchical nature than ever before.below is a diagram i have prepared which shows the organizational similarities that watch tower society now shares with the catholic church.... .
until recently, the governing body could place the "faithful slave" above it at the top of the pyramid, but as of october 5th this fuzzy doctrine was scrapped - thus removing the final distinguishing factor between the governing body and popedom.. as always, i would be interested in your thoughts.... .

Excellent Cedars. Your 'pyramids' are very telling and the allusion to Animal Farm is spot on!
The picture is sickening as is the hypocrisy. The leaving out of Christ from the picture is hard to take. Not sure how much more I can stomach, family or no family.

what takes away salvation
by jhine ini am certain that the watchtower society is of the devil , they tell so many lies to cover up their false doctrines and satan is the father of all lies .
so logically somewhere in those false doctrines there is something that prevents the rank and file from receiving salvation as satan works so hard to keep them in "the truth " does anyone else agree with that statement ?
if so, what is it in their teaching that keeps them from the free gift of salvation that comes by the grace of god alone ?

Do JWs Really Still care about the "Truth"?
by XBEHERE ini often read posts on here citing some km school or wt article and the comment that "now they are tightening their grip" or "they will now go after faders" etc, etc.
my perception is that the vast majority of jws, including the elders, are suffering from apathy and fatigue.
most simply don't care anymore.

I think elderly ones who've been in it for decades do still believe it's the truth and nothing would ever shake them. I do get the feeling that many are tiring out. The social thing is big, especially if you have all your family and lifelong friends. If there wasn't the constant guilt tripping to do more more more I think a number would just fade away. However the hold that is over them, that the FDS is appointed by God himself keeps them in. They daren't question anything lest they be questioning God.

As an organisation I believe they have taken away what Christ really is. They pay him lip service when a real christian is supposed to worship him and pray to him. They have put men in his position and have sidelined him. He is no longer the mediator for ALL mankind. He is only the mediator for a few thousand in their eyes. We can only gain salvation by being a part of this organisation when the bible clearly says salvation is gained through Chrsit alone! The works they say that give us salvation is the preaching work and going to meetings when the bible says the works are those that makes a person truly christian ie. showing love for God and our fellow man. Without love we are nothing.
Christ is not getting the praise and honour he deserves from a so called 'christian' organisation!

Has disproving the "Truth" become an obsession for you at times?
by Pyramid Scheme ini was curious if anyone else has gone through a similar experience.. when i became inactive 4 years ago, i went through a period of not being able to focus on just about anything, other than doing tremendous amounts of research to prove to myself what my beliefs were, and to clearly identify my issues with the jw organization.
i was mad - and i was on a mission to build the ultimate case against the wt.
however, having read the fine advice on here, i backed off with my family, since it would have just gotten ugly.. i avoided posting on here for years, and had cut down my research and put it on the back burner.. however, i still felt a need to "witness" to my family and to have an open discussion with my wife.

PS.. yes, I think I know what you mean. At first I wanted to debunk everything! I was so mad I'd been lied to, that history had been covered up and rewritten, that the NWT really was a false translation etc. I'm surprised my hubby didn't divorce me!
I've toned it down now and I'm in a better place but I still have to come here and still do some research simply to keep being able to see through the propaganda. As I still feel the need to go to some meetings for family's sake I don't want to get sucked in again. It could be easy to drop my guard if I didn't have this place to come to, to keep my head clear and my feet firmly planted!
