LOL! I live out of the territory so all I get is a text message! Plus if anyone steps on my property they have a big ass dog running their way real fast and if he doesnt bite but if you don't know him he is intimidating enough to make you jump back in the car fast.

Mini Shephearding Call!!! Nice!
by tresdecu in...while i was on the couch drinking coffee and surfing jwd..;-) it was an elder and ms, trying to 'encourage' us to be a little more regular.
(i told him i'm fine, i get enough fiber in my diet...haha ok dumb joke).
i chatted with them for a few, exchanged some pleasantries, told them i've been havining some "medical" issues lately and that i appreciated their concern.

Starting to read Crisis of Conscience....
by confuzzled777 inafter almost 2 years of being wrongfully disfellowshipped and over a year after finding this site....i am starting to read crisis of conscience.
i will not lie....i am a bit nervous as to what information i will find in the book.
i have a strong feeling that i will end up crying through most of it as i will start to see the truth about the "truth".

I'm on page 100 of CoC. I have to hide it from my JW housekeeper. Which means I hide it from myself and forget to go read it. But it has been interesting so far.

Very tiny change to Service Meeting Announcements protocol.
by Open mind infor those who want to keep up with the "pure language", i found out this week that at the most recent elder's school, they were told that the announcements should no longer include the following:.
1. name of public talk and speaker for sunday.
2. synopsis of all the parts that are coming up on the rest of the service meeting.

The announcements are to allow time for REPROOF/DISFELLOWSHIPPING. The rest is just filler.

Baptism Questions??
by lepermessiah inthis forum tends to get me thinking about things from the past and then roll my eyes.. i was recalling a particular pharasee in the congregation who used to love showing everyone how "smart" he was.. when i would go over the questions with someone, we would fly through them because it was usually with kids who were raised as jw's and could answer then in their sleep.
(besides the fact it was an "open book" quiz.).
well, mr pharasee used to always make it into a marathon session and take 2-3 hours to go over one section of the questions with someone.. he could take a simple question like "what is god's name?

Maybe now they can afford to build some KH's in the third world countries that can't afford them.

Bethel Memories Good and Bad
by joelbear indave inspired me with his story of his week at bethel.
the fish in the pond outside the e building at the watchtower farm would eat out of your hand, very cool.
the fall colors of the mountains with the morning sunshine on them outside the dining hall at the farm were spectacular.

When I left, people asked why I would ever leave the closest thing we have to Paradise in this imperfect world. If Bethel is Paradise, I'd look for alternatives.

Kinda bumping this to see if anyone knows if its true. He was one of the kindest, most down to earth CO's that ever existed.

Kingdom Melodies songwriters - Who wrote which songs?
by Black Man inso can we get a directory going of who wrote various kingdom melodies songs?
i know frank kavelin (who has happily since left the cult) had a hand in writing "make the truth your own," and "make sure of the more important things.
" but who were some of the writers that penned the rest of the tunes?.

The harshest and most unloving C.O. I ever met, Alonzo Hawkins, claimed to have written a few. I didn't care enough to ask which ones.

Shepherd,
It was 1968. That was a pretty big deal at the time depending on what part of the county you were from. I know of brothers in the 70's who performed mixed race weddings and got threats from the brothers in the hall.
