Gordy, I'm in the Sydney Bethel area. Before 'jumping in' I would think that there must be more to the story. Has your friend told you any more details?

I DO believe that the dubs break up families but I know that they would not encourage a new convert to abandon his wife and children.

Another thing that makes me wonder at the veracity of this is the sentence:

He told me that I am not the wife he wants, he wants a Jehovah's Witness wife

That just isn't on! If he were to try that, he'd be DFed for adultery.

In short, more information needed.

2010 District Convention - Some Thoughts on the Sunday Afternoon Session

out of a sense of morbid curiosity, i recently attended the sunday afternoon session of the district convention.

the session consisted of a drama and the infamous "remain in the secret place of the most high" talk.

overall, i got a sense that the wts is in damage control mode because the end hasn't come yet.

So as I understand them, the Borgmeisters are now saying that "the generation" comprises two groups. Is this another of their Bible-based™ teachings? Try as I might, I just don't find any scripture that even mentions it, let alone describes it.

How sad for those still duped.

Ray Franz Passed Away Today

i just received word that ray franz passed away today at 1:37 pm eastern daylight time.

the cause of death is stated as head trauma, likely due to falling to the ground, and a stroke could have also been part of the cause or a result of the fall.

he died at emory university hospital in atlanta about 17 minutes after being taken off life support.

Mrs Ozzie and I were greatly helped by him. Along with a number of friends in the borg, we used to meet together and discuss various chapters from both his books. We all found it a very confirming experience. That was many years ago now and we have all moved much further along the paths set for us.

We rejoice that we have found real christian freedom.

A new type of shiraz

well-known amongst friends and acquaintances for my love of a shiraz, ive been given something new to try for christmas.

its a shiraz viognier, produced by the method of co-fermentation of red shiraz grapes mixed with white viognier grapes.

they are mixed before the wine is made when the addition of white grapes at this stage is thought to preserve the brightness of the red pigments during fermentation, as well as altering the development of some of the flavour compounds.. a typical shiraz viognier wine will contain between two and seven percent of the white variety.

A typical Shiraz Viognier wine will contain between two and seven percent of the white variety. A low amount? Winemakers claim it’s enough to change the chemical pathways of the development of the flavouring and colouring compounds during fermentation.

So, what’s it like? Dunno yet, I’m saving it for some savouring! I’ll let you know.

here is a scan from the dec 15 09 wt (study ed) with a graph of how a witness should apportion their time to remain joyful.. .

so according to this graph, to remain joyful a witness should spend 3 times as much of his waking hours in 'theocratic activities' as he should in secular work!
