Women - do you love being around men?
by Mr Ben inwomen - do you love being around men?
i only ask because i realise that for over 20 years i just love being around women.
it's not just for sexual reasons either, though that's important sometimes, i just really like being around women.

I can't help but feel that they've made a huge mistake.
A feature of the early christian church was that they met in private homes. The modern-day churches seem to recognise that by encouraging their members to meet in "cell groups" for Bible study. Indeed, this is the case in the church I attend. It's recognised that small groups actually strengthen the whole church body.
The Borg seems to increasingly be looking to assemble in larger and larger gatherings. Yeah, I know it's all about control. Still, I can't help but feel they've picked on the wrong gathering to eliminate.
Funny how I'd conducted group Bible studies in the Borg for decades and now find myself leading a Bible study group in a church! Funny old world, ain't it?
Of course the difference is that we do actually study the Bible and not a book.

Remember how elders would exhort us to "stay in the middle of God's organisation" for safety?
Ain't that stupid? How the hell can everyone stay in the middle???? By definition, it'd be impossible, someone has to be on the outside!!!!
Stupid.

Just in case you've not got a copy yet:
Studies for JuneRepudiate "Valueless Things"
Study Review
- In a general sense, what valueless things should we repudiate?
- How can we avoid letting money become like a god?
- In what way can fleshly desires become idolatry?
- How can we repudiate valueless things?
Seek God's Guidance in all Things
Study Review
- Why do we trust Jehovah's guidance?
- What is implied if we reject Jehovah's guidance?
- What are some situations in which a Christian needs humility?
- How does Jehovah guide us today? [oh oh, we know what this means!]
Young People, Remember Your Grand Creator Now
Marriage and parenthood in This Time of the End
Study Review
- Why should young Christians not rush into marriage?
- What does raising a child involve? [huh????]
- Why do many Christians remain single or if married, childless?
- What "tribulation" may Christian parents experience? [as if the Borg-masters would know, eh?]
What Makes Life Worthwhile?
Study Review
- What should move us to think seriously abour our goals in life?
- How should we view the pursuit of pleasure and possessions?
- What kind of work will bring lasting satisfaction?
- What valuable thing should we strive to possess?
Notice the mind-control techniques here? Use of words like "should' - notice? And then there's the pictures with their captions to reinforce control:. Here's the captions:
- Never allow the desire for material things to slow you down in Jehovah's service.
- The words of elders can be of great value.
- Do you look to Jehovah in all aspects of your life?
- Eve turned her back on Jehovah's sovereignty. [funny how they always show her front!!!! ]
- What quality did Hagar need if she was to follow the angel's direction?
- Jehovah provides the very best education.
- Baruch listened to Jehovah and survived Jerusalem's destruction. What can you learn from this example?
- Why is it wise for young christians to wait to marry?
- Why do some Christian couples decide not to have children? [they don't like them?]
- What place should recreation have in our life?
- What makes the preaching work deeply satisfying?
And notice how they try to have it both ways with their "last days" doctrine? Even though they repudiated any time span ingredient, they still pepper their writings with exhortations to do more because there isn't much time left etc etc - just like as if nothing in their teachings had changed.
Aren't you glad you're missing all this? !!

G'day Shauna,
Those were the days, eh? I think for many, like yourself, we've been able to get on with life and make a very happy new one. Yes, there is life after the borg! And it's great.
All the best for your future travelling along the road to freedom.
Cheers, Ozzie

Bethel moving from Brooklyn.
by strawberry cake inan old pioneer friend told me recently that the bethel is moving from brooklyn.
she learned this at pioneer school from the cos who taught the school.
also they warned of many changes to come.

they are moving most of it to Patterson. Probably cheaper location and that Brooklyn Heights property is very valuable.
Yet the fuel costs would be higher. Ironic, isn't it?

JW Take on Matt 18 and Reporting "Sin" to "Elders"
by Frank75 ini was wondering what your impressions are of the recent convo i had with a jw elder who thought he would call up his old "apostate" buddy and try to sell him some software.
i agreed to the meeting thinking this would be great.
my own mother won't talk to me but this guy feels this "business" would allow him to fraternise.. he quickly gets on the jw topic by mentioning a recent funeral of a mutual acquaintance in the "tooth" and why i wasn't there.

I'm an example of someone who told the elders of personal wrongdoing that normally would lead to a JC meeting. The two elders I talked to decided on the spot that since I was obviously repentant and came to them, then it wasn't necessary to form a JC and the matter was dropped to never be brought up again. I never really figured out how I got out of that one. I was fully expecting to be removed as an MS, to be publicy reproved (at the least privately reproved) and to suffer some shame amongst my family.
I can recall an instance where I partook in such action. It was exactly as you describe and the P.O. and i met with the man who had confessed. The P.O. at the time was a bethel colleague from Service Department and we agreed that it would be pointless taking it to a JC for it had happened some years prior and that the man was clearly repentant in making known something which was unlikely to have otherwise been made known.
I suspect it happens more than we imagine - there are (a few) right-minded individuals serving as elders.
BTW undercover, you're not downunder are you?
