I always look out for your threads, you invariably have something worthwhile to say - you and I have been around here for more than eight years and have surely learned much along the way.

The description of the Borg as being an evil empire is certainly something I believe although i'm not sure it's the worst the world has ever seen.

As for showing them no mercy though, I'm not so sure. There's no doubting that Mrs Ozzie and I have plenty of reason to despise them; amongst other things Mts Ozzie has suffered horribly from the vindictiveness of certain Bethel elders in Australia who abused her and their positions to horribly harm her. I don't give details for privacy reasons but if I were to dwell on what they did, it would eat me up.

And that's the point isn't it? We cannot let them continue to rule our lives even after we have left. Our lives would be ruined, we would be mere shadows of what we could be.

The truth is that even if they changed, they could never change in the essentials - they are disciples of a lie. How could changes 'around the edges' prove to be real change? No, a leopard cannot change its spots.

There comes a point when we must put it all behind us, reaching forward into this wonderful world.

Work for the day when the Watchtower is an irrelevancy in our lives - it surely is for most of the world's population.

Many times we may not agree with other posters on JWD but we try to maintain it as a welcoming place for ALL, no matter whether we (whoever that may be!) agree with the sentiments or not.

When I hit it, it took me straight to a mirror of JWD and changed my settings.

Guess what? Internet security is important to us.

So.... I acted quickly to protect JWD users. Seems fair to me.

How do you handle ... being shunned?

my da announcement was last tuesday, so i have been on the official jw shun list for about a week now.... i am curious how you handle shunning.my situation:.

i have spoken with my family (my parents and 1 brother) and discussed whether they will shun me.

i explained that biblically they should not shun me since i am not an antichrist, and i have not rejected the teaching that jesus cam in the flesh.

Do you say "Hi how are you" in a friendly voice when they call your home? Do you visit sick JW friends or relatives in the hospital, and thus "turn the other cheek" and "heap fiery coals on their heads"?

Yep. Over many years now, Mrs Ozzie and I have adopted the view that 'they' may have DF us but we haven't DF 'them' !

For a while, it seemed that maybe it wasn't the right course since it only hurt all the more but these days we've seen it was the best policy. Nowadays relationships are much better - they've seen that we do 'mean it' (leaving the WT and attending churches) and that if they're to have company with us, it'll be on our terms, not theirs.

We grieve that our family are still blinded by the evil of the cult known as JWs but otherwise, things are fine. Why, I'm not even much interested in the Borg any more!

Jesus is the Chief Agent

"Chief Agent" is a whole lot different to being the one who is spoken of as "resurrects". Note that the caption nowhere mentions "Chief Agent", nor "Jehovah"; it simply statesthat Jesus resurrects.

Night Guards at Twickenham

a very enjoyable part of my job these last few years has been entertaining clients with corporate hospitality at the rugby union international matches at twickenham.

i work for a software company, as finance director, and these events such as the six nations, or the annual barbarians tour - provide companies such as mine a valuable opportunity to spend time with customers and prospects and try to interest them in our products, or at least get them to be favourably disposed to the company.

sponsorship of rugby matches like this is actually quite a smart move marketing-wise.

That depends on whether you think that changes like that make it "better". I hold to the view that it's rotten at the core i.e. it's basic teachings are wrong, so it wouldn't matter how much the outside packaging is presented, it's still a rotten apple!

Jesus seems to be taking on a larger part of the theology of the Jw's nowadays.

That's an impression I have too.. I remember the days whenabsolutely everything (except the cross!) was attributed to Jehovah. I recall mentioning to people at our KH that Jesus is the creator and being looked at very warily! Yet that's what the NWT says. Colossians chapter 1, for example, states just that. Even the inserted word "other" in the NWT doesn't change the fact that Paul speaks of Jesus as having created..

So, I'm especially 'sensitive' to reading anything in their publications that reveals a change in their official stand on the nature of Christ; it was that that caused me to question the Dub teachings many years ago now.

I wonder, is this a new slant on the resurrrection?

I find it interesting that in such an article, they don't say "Jehovah will resurrect".

Are they trying to appear more acceptable in their message, i wonder?
