Mill Hill - Chelmsford, reduced capacity, any news on Chelmsford plan revision
by Lostandfound inchelmsford looks to have much less work than in mill hill complex, if gb spirit guided why did they allow massive plans for new site when such significant changes must have been in discussion, planning , or contemplation.
knee jerk reaction to things looks to indicate someone or more on gb has instituted changes almost overnight.
my dog plans his day better, get up, walk, sleep, eat, walk some more, eat some more, and sleep again.

Slang or Terms Only Used by Bethelities
by new boy inthere are many terms used at bethel that might sound foreign to normal people.
there are many words or terms used at bethel that are unique only to their organization.
here are just a few of them.. “a jack” this is someone who is a slacker or just lazy.. “a pot licker” this term has been used for many years but its connotation is unclear.

Awesome reading.
Bethel, especially in the 70's, would make a fascinating tv series. Bethel was where the drama was and drama makes for interesting stories.

Annual Meeting 2017—Talks and Adjustments to the Ministry
by Zeds Dead injust watched this video on dub broadcasting website under latest videos.. the tony morris part about 18 mins into the video where he takes forever sermonizing about "seeking out ones rightly disposed to everlasting life" he goes on and on about it and then finally says "the gb have decided that there will only be 3 magazines a year for the public and no year books anymore".
firstly there must be some active dubbers asking why it took forever just to say that and secondly why another cut back?.
seems like the whole thing is just about the website now..

The Red Headed League
by dropoffyourkeylee ini am sitting here watching my pioneering wife get service time ‘writing letters’ to not-at-homes.
she has a long list of names and addressees where the jws in field service never got anyone home.
the letter is simply a word for word copy, handwritten on note paper, then sent in the usmail.

It is the exact opposite of the traveling salesman problem. JWs thrive on finding the least optimal, most time wasting route. -

Wow. I never made that connection to that story before. Not only letter writing, but door-to-door or cartwork, endless meetings, "study", all the equivalent meaningless busywork.
I can't help but think back to the scene in the Granda version where Holmes and Watson bust out laughing after the man relates his story.

$5.5 Million to be transferred to World Wide Work from Assembly Hall fund
by Sour Grapes ina letter was read tonight in our kingdom hall that the money that the circuits in the indianapolis area had in savings to build a new assembly hall will now be transferred to the www to build kingdom halls in lands where they are needed and a new assembly hall for us will not be built.. we had a beautiful assembly hall near downtown indy that was paid for.
it was sold a couple of years ago.
we were promised a new assembly hall to be built in southern ohio near the indiana border but they can kiss that goodbye now.

There is zero transparency to prove whether or not the funds did go to building Kingdom Halls or Assembly Halls in other lands. Watchtower's authority cannot be challenged. If anyone started asking questions, they would be met with silence and dealt with by the local body of elders.

Has the Governing Body EVER apologized for anything?
by Wild_Thing ingeoffrey jackson testified to the arc that the governing body has apologized for things in the past, so an apology to sexual abuse victims is "perceivable".
what has the governing body ever apologized for?.
22 q. just on that point, mr jackson, has the governing body23 considered apologising to survivors of child sexual abuse24 at the hands of elders within the organisation?25 a. i haven't been in any discussions with regard to that.26 27 q. is that something that you foresee might happen ‐ in 28 other words, that an apology at least be considered?29 a. the governing body has apologised on other matters, so30 for me to say ‐ i can't speak collectively for everybody, 31 but we have apologised on things in the past, in other32 areas, so it is perceivable.. .

"It is to be regretted" is not an apology. First, it is written is the passive voice which obscures who is supposed to be in regret. And to regret something is not the same as saying, "I'm sorry. I was wrong."
When Jackson said, "The Governing Body has apologised on other matters...we have apologised on things in the past", it was pure theocratic warfare. If they've ever apologised for anything, it has not been public or on printed page.

a question after my first JW meeting
by bleak ini attended my first jw meeting recently.
first, i would like to say what i agree with about the jehovah's witnesses beliefs and practices.. 1. they don't consider israeli's as "god's chosen people" and they don't worship israel as some holy land filled with righteous jews (although there are some there) as most so-called "christians" (christian zionists) erroneously believe they are instead of the "hypocrites" and "vipers" that it is actually filled with.. 2. they don't celebrate "holidays" like easter and christmas which are, in fact, remnants of earlier pagan practices.. 3. they don't put nation before god and christ.
they don't believe in war or going to war because of some crazy government/cia secret agenda.

They know about 50 or so isolated verses of the Bible as prooftexts. Most of this is out of context.
What they believe is mandated by the Governing Body and they cannot variate for this, or else they will be disfellowshiped for apostasy and shunned by friends and family. And since they are not supposed to make friendships with non-JWs (the world), that means losing everyone they know. If you continue down this path, they will slowly encourage you to distance yourself from any friends you have.
Anyway, the Governing Body teaches that they are the Faithful and Discreet Slave on Matthew 24:45, the sole channel appointed by Jesus to give "spiritual food". One's spiritual health and relationship with God is dependent on recognizing them as the Faithful Slave. Christ is said to appointed this Faithful Slave in the year 1919, a few years after his invisible Presence began in 1914.
If you don't believe any of this, you will be destroyed for all eternity at Armagedom.
What do you think about their beliefs now?
