I didn't leave because of "bad examples".
I left because I researched 607 BC and found not only was it wrong, the Watchtower articles defending 607 BC was deceptive.
Editing to add: Then I researched other topics (1914, the Faithful Slave, House to House preaching, the Great Crowd, ect) and found them equally erroneous.

) we understood that the “arriving” mentioned in verse 46 was linked to the time when jesus came to inspect the spiritual condition of the anointed in 1918 and that the appointment of the slave over all the master’s belongings occurred in 1919.

1919 is still the most important Watchtower date, supposedly when Jesus appointed a small group of "anointed" at HQ the "faithful slave" as the only channel God is using to serve spiritual food at the proper time.
The "Kingdom Rules" paragraph there doesn't contradict any "new light" about the "captivity" to "Babylon the Great".

The new light on the "slave" a few years ago was that Jesus did not yet appoint the slave "over all his belongings" yet, but when they get to heaven to join the 144000. However, they still maintain in 1919 that Jesus appointed the slave to serve food at the proper time.

This was from the US zone visit a couple years back broadcast to all US congregations. He gave his "tight pants" and "spanx" rants at this time as well.
What amazes me is some JWs do not seem to understand this is the insider, Official teaching of Watchtower: if you are not an active JW in good standing, you will eternally perish at Armageddon. This message has essentially unchanged since Rutherford's time.
Of course, the "outsider teaching" dances around this: God is the judge, not us, ect, ect...

I agree. 99% of JWs hate the meetings, find them dull as wallpaper, but it's a sin to say so. Of course, regular meeting attendance is one of the prerequisites for everlasting life along with "field service" which is something most JWs also hate to do.

When I was in, it was a matter of social anxiety. I wanted to sit somewhere that was out of the view of the crowd.
well, very little, to be honest.
the structure and commitment of the ministry provided discipline necessary to my life.
therefore, i did it, as required, and felt some sense of fulfillment at the bible study stage.. i do like talking to people.
There is nothing I miss about this, especially being forced to talk with strangers at their door and push my religion on them.
