i was just going through some of my talk outlines and i've decided to git rid of quite a few of them.
i'm still serving, but as time goes on... there are many subjects i will not teach anymore.. i got rid of the outlines dealing with blood, the field ministry, and ones talking about 607 and 1914. i can barely stand hearing them let alone give them.
in fact, talk 41 "stand still and see the salvation of jehovah" is one i got rid of because its whole point was about having blind obedience toward the gb and the elders during the great tribulation, and that we need to start practicing obedience now if we want to survive.

Talks with 607 and 1914 could be used to seed thoughts, encourage research and questions asked such as:
* How many could explain this? Why not?
* How would you answer if a household asked you...? Are you truly prepared to answer?
* Have you looked at approved sources Watchtower has quoted from to support these views?

but here's the alternative title: what stupid beliefs/ideas did you have while an active jw.. i think the majority of jws that don't have obvious mental health issues are not stupid, just un/under-educated.

I agree. According to the Pew poll, JWs are the least educated among the religions they track.
This is because of undue influence...in particular Information Control.
i don't really engage in doctrinal discussions about jw's anymore.
they seem to say some pretty crazy stuff.
but i have read some threads discussing doctrinal changes and how watchtower is really out of ideas and money at the same time.
I do wonder if rather than declaring the Great Tribulation has began, Watchtower will declare they are in the pre-tribulation period (perhaps the Peace and Security cry) and to begin to make preparations. I could imagine this involving selling all Kingdom Halls and going back to a “book study” arrangement meeting in smaller groups in private homes.

And what Slim Boy Fat said about 1914. Had WWI started in another year, some other Adventist group using the 2520 year calculation would have likely used it to confirm their prediction and the Bible Students would have long faded away and been entirely forgotten.
Of course, whether this group would become a fullblown cult like JWs would require a tyrant like Rutherford to take over.
i was stalking to a jw today about her recent experience on the carts and with being a jw generally.
until this conversation i considered the carts as just an ineffective preaching method and a harmless waste of time.
but now i wonder if the effect of the carts might be to produce noticeable decline in jw numbers.
JWs...in particular pioneers...learn the fine art of "getting time in", that is, in essense, wasting it with nonproductive work.

She was tired all the time because her sleep kept getting interrupted. It turned out to be a demon was harassing her while she was sleeping and she kept waking up. When they figured this out, they searched the house from top to bottom and in the attic they found hidden a Ouija board.
This is the sort of stuff that the “Keep Yourself In God’s Love” book instructed JWs not to talk about, otherwise they might draw the demons. However, it seems at MTS school it was discussed overtly.
I’m wondering for those who’ve attended MTS school, what bizarre things they taught that would not be mentioned at ordinary JW meetings?
