They've allot to learn about the history of this organization! It's always been that way.

just wondering how many are assisted to wake up after experiencing harsh treatment from "the loving shepherds of the congregation"?.
perhaps some were starting to wake up, and such behaviour or treatment gave them the push to leave?.
as jesus supposedly said "come to me all who are toiling and loaded down, and i will refresh you.
The elders definitely helped show me the monstrous heart of the organization. Of course, elders are at their most harsh often when they are doing things "by the book" as "Mother" directs. The organization overrides the humanity of these men.
In the end though, what it boiled down to was it simply not "the Truth". Had I believed it was the Truth or I merely had doubts, most likely I would have eventually returned. But research destroyed any doubts and replaced it with certainty. I'm not sure if I would have eventually started real research had it not been for the harshness of elders.
september 6th, 2017: a just released research survey shows once again that jehovah's witnesses are among the least educated people in the united states: .
america’s changing religious identity.
it is also interesting to note how jws rank in the categories of: income, insurance coverage and homeownership.
I remember when JWs would get neuron and neutron mixed up. Or organism and orgasm.

And if they didn't break things down by ethnicity/religion, they would find JWs the least least educated of them all.
i was looking at the footnote in the 3rd ed.
of weymouth's nt (1912) on an unrelated topic and i happened on the phrase "the passing away of the present system of things" (p. 659 n. 2).
when i was in, i remember reading that the nwt "committee" (= f. franz) came up with that "system of things" rendering of the greek aion from john parkhurst's very old lexicon.
"System of things" is another example of weird, convoluted cult lingo. I didn't realize it had an earlier origin.
I hear Freddie could get fixated on certain things sometimes.
just thought i'd start a thread about favourite movies.
mine, in no particular order, are .... alien - a great visual film.
the chest-bursting scene is still great to watch, no matter how many times i've seen the movie.
I loved Sixth Sense. But then I loved Signs. I thought the Village wasn't bad.
But Lady in the Water is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Shylaman lost me after that.

hello house,i am sorry for bumping in like this, ii am a newly baptized jehovah witness, i have been a christain all my life any but i love this new insight and teaching,so i am looking to find a jehovah witness lady that can help me grow strong in faith,i would rather meet someone here because we would take time to get to know each other before we meet, this is a light about me,i am 37 , single, never married and have no kids,i have a good sense of humor, i am loving, caring and trustworthy.i'm an easy going person and i try to stay clear of any drama.i am presently in living in lexington, kentucky but willing to move soon.i am a reserved man,now i am ready to settle down and i'm looking for a woman i can vibe with on a spiritual and intellectual level, i want love and commitment,i am intelligent and successful but let me not toot my own horns, thanks for taking your time to read this.attached my picture and i did include my mobile number.+1 913-730-5780looking forward to hearing from you .thanks.
I do wonder if this is for real or not. The only JW term he used is “newly baptized”. I suppose it is conceivable that he is.
As someone pointed out: he has a beard. A new person (or someone faking) might not know that is frowned on as “untheocratic”.
Also, JWs are instructed to wait and observe, not date someone fresh from the baptismal pool. A new person or a faker might not know that. Heck, they might wait for such a person to be a Ministerial Servant before even considering them.
Also he says he was been a Christian all his life, BUT, according to the JWs, only they are true Christians and everyone else is Babylon the Great, so that doesn’t count. It’s not as though JWs are just another denomination that has a bonus of having “new insight and teaching”.
A new person or someone faking wouldn’t know that online JW dating (and JW related forums period) are heavily discouraged.
it's only a matter of time of course..... jw rumor mills will start up soon, with stories of how jws were "first on the scene" as the flood waters receded..... how the red cross and/or us national guard and/or doctors without borders and/or [you name it] were marveling at just how "organized" the jws are..... how zealous jws were pulling their trolleys thru ankle-deep water to "offer comfort" to victims, by giving them - sandwiches?
bottled water?
to offer them comfort by giving them 16 page "magazines" to read in their spare time..... so as the stories start to come in, you can "deposit" those little nuggets of bs here.. once collected, we'll wrap them in a pretty bow and flush them away where other instances of pure manure go..

JWs aren't the only people who use natural disasters for PR purposes and make grandiose claims.
hi, first time posting.i got out about 10 years ago, but only beginning to reconcile with my trauma from being raised as a witness.
i am a professional writer, and never wanted my body of work to be prefaced -- 'oh the writer who broke free from being a jw,' but i've started the last year to now write about my experiences.
another reason i have held back is many of the victims in my family are still of the faith, and i've grappled with it is not entirely my story to tell or expose.context: the sexual abuse cover-up with my family goes back to the 50's over three generations of girls in a large extended family all raised as witnesses at the hands of an uncle, and protected by the elder body, ca, da, ontario branch of bethel, ny and so on.i grew up in a culture where the girls in my family would go 'off the deep end' at ages 16/17, and kept waiting to grow up for my turn to 'go crazy', which did happen at age 17 when i had my first manic phase and left the org for about two years.
I have to say that of all things that the organization has done, threatening victims and their families with disfellowshipping has to be one of the worst.
