Three congregations dissolved and a kingdom hall sold within a 50 mile radius in my area...
by UNCONDITIONAL LOVE inhas anyone else heard of these situations with congregations and halls in your area?
i thought the ground breaking mandatory pledge a little while ago was to keep up with "immense" growth?
how soon they forget... looks really bleak for the future of the wbats, the jw gravy train seems to be coming to a slow and agonizing yet inevitable stop.

It's become so regular that it is now "no news".
In the 80s and 90s, congregations split. Now they are re-forged and merged.

Assembly Dramas:They were so bad.... but.... you waited for them to break away from the monotony!
by RULES & REGULATIONS in.
you do remember the four day assemblies... sitting outdoors being fried in the sweltering heat, getting heat stroke in the middle of july in an outdoor baseball stadium.sitting outdoors from 9:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. was so much fun while you wore a suit, long sleeve shirt and a tie while your brain fried.
mom's who had children to take care of,lug strollers, feed all the kids, take them for bathroom breaks and try to not faint from the heat.. the sound and audio was always breaking and barely audible from the wind, airplanes flying over and (if you attended the cicero, illinois circuit )you would smell horse manure from the horse stables next door.. you know that you are a jehovah's witness.... when the only excitement waiting for the drama... where brothers and sisters dress up in ancient cloths, fake beards, fake rocks and fake soldier uniforms and wave their hands incessantly to pretend that they are acting out a drama.the excitement was unbearable!.

Even before I woke up, I realized the writing was awful, the voice acting overdone, very poor characterization. There was no subtlety. Most of the emotion came by way of the music to tug at the heartstrings. The writers of these dramas clearly had no idea of how life functioned in the real world and portrayals of Bible times were very anachronistic.

Welcome, doubtfull1799! I enjoyed reading this.
I was bornin and woke up around age 40. So many of us have been in for decades. I envy the kids that woke up when they are young. I realize now they were the smart ones.
What would be the benefits of organizational-made disassociation over fading?

Interesting cross reference
by Steel inhebrew 1 8-12 .
but about the son, he says: “god is your throne+ forever and ever, and the scepter of your kingdom is the scepter of uprightness.
you loved righteousness, and you hated lawlessness.

The writer of Hebrews clearly believed that the Son was fully divine, but a distinct person from the Father, both being YHWH. The writer of John and Colossians shared the same view.
Other writings in the New Testament reflect different theologies. For the writer of Mark, Jesus was a fully human messiah with human parents adopted as the son of God. The writers of Matthew and Luke introduced the idea of the virgin birth, of Jesus not having a human father, thus being God's son because God miraculously causes his birth.

Here is your typical Kingdom Hall of Jehovah'w Witnesses attendance!
by RULES & REGULATIONS in.
kingdom hall south dakota live stream.....i found this video on youtube.com.
it reminds me of my old kingdom hall where hardly anyone is sitting in the front rows and doesn't seem like they have a large membership.most kingdom halls sit around 200 people at the most and seem to have a hard time filling the seats.. my old congregation had around 45 members when i left 4 years ago.we always seemed to have a hard time meeting the monthly expenses.some months,i was told that some elders would contribute extra money so the congregation would not be in the negative for the month.. how many members did your congregation have while you were still attending and did meet its expenses for the month?.

This is why they are consolidating congregations and selling excess buildings.

Bethel Library moving to Warwick, are older items 'vanishing'
by Lostandfound inin a post re dates etc from fatfreek reference was made to huge library at bethel with items dating back to pastor rs day.
like the year 1975 which has vanished from wt theology, are gb using move to let them put all old and inconvenient items into some sort of cold storage and off library shelves.
already the revelation book has gone from the orgs website, and that was quite recent relatively, we studied it 3 times at congregation book study, yet now, like type and antitype it mysteriously was never there.

I believe Sam Herd is a huge fan of Angels and Women. They have to keep his favorite books!

Violent Games/Movie
by Saethydd inall through my childhood, i was told about the evils of violence (and magic) in entertainment, i doubt i could count the number of movies and video games i wasn't allowed to enjoy for that very reason.
i did always watch movies and play video games with a certain amount of violence in them, but i was careful to keep it at the teen/pg-13 rating.. in the last year or so though i've started trying out games like skyrim, fallout 3, and thief.
(since i still live with my parents i'm careful about where and when i play them.

I've played the Last of Us, Shadow of Mordor, etc...
It has had no effect on me. I can separate fantasy from the real world. I'm not about to emulate these games in real life, nor do I have the shadow of a desire to do so.

What is your opinion of the news media?
by minimus into me they have an agenda and they really don't care about professional journalism.
most are untrustworthy and that's a shame.

Can we really trust the media? Isn't the media owned by Satan? When a number of media sources challenge our worldview with 'facts', we have to remember that!

Another Burnt Out Elder
by Spoletta inyoung elder(mid-thirties) in my congregation stepped down last night.
nicest guy, with two lovely kids, a great supportive wife.. it got to be too much, as the other elders are practically useless, let him do all the hard work, while they did all the "important" stuff.
literally ran him ragged.. he's still in good standing, gave the final prayer.

It is very telling his wife was in tears over it.
Despite much lip service otherwise, being an elder gives one an elevated position and standing, there is a pride and personal glory in it. There is shame associated with stepping down or being deleted. Family can take much pride in having a father or husband as a "glorious one" "worthy of double honor".
