  I forgot whether it used to be Tuesday or Thursday that the CO would address the problems he was seeing over the last visit. Now there is only one midweek CO meeting...

  I guess that makes the CO visit like Festivus, having the "airing of grievances".

  yes my holy anionted mom who has cancer is concerned that the loving god jehovah may ask her in heaven to destroy here non believer family including her 5 year old grandchild during armagedon....how messed up are these crazy people!!?

  If what the Watchtower taught was true, it would be a legit concern for the "anointed". I'm sure she's distressed over the prospect, but I don't blame her. It's the apocalyptic cult leaders.

  I remember the pink songbook. We seemed to stay in the brown one for almost 30 years. It’s amazing the new songbook had such an incredibly short halflife.

  Ridiculous ways you kept your "time going" in service?

  i used to go out early mornings with 2 pioneer elders, we would drive 20 miles out of the territory (a big no-no) to look for hikers to preach to lol of course there were never any hikers.

  then off to starbucks for another hour lol easy way to count 2-4 hours.

  i am chuckling as i write this, what a joke!.

  I'm floored. Of course, now I look back and realize it was all a waste of time.

  I tried to be as honest I could because I believe Jehovah was looking over my shoulder. I didn’t want to end up like Ananias and Sapphira. And of course, it was drilled into me that this had to be both quantity AND quality time. Each meeting and assembly drilled into me that what “little” I did was not quality enough.

  Time had to count…and it was important not to being a leech (that is, driving around doing other people’s return visits and not having any of my own).

  Toward the end, it was no wonder I became a low hour publisher. I will admit sometimes to rounding up to the next hour and sometimes borrowing against the next month sometimes.

  The power this organization shames and guilts a person is incredible.

  I second the question.

  I'd a friend who used to say, "the children of the light do their works in the light". Of course, we both had a huge blindspot toward the organization. If they are in the right, they've nothing to hide by transparency and full disclosure.

  "You Can Do Just Enough Ministry To Dislike It"

  when you were "in" did you ever actually enjoy the ministry?

  and i made no secret about it.

  instead i would joke about me feather knocking, and made sure i had my bible in hand so as they come to the door they know what im about so they can shut me down before i even start.. i always wondered how or why there were people who enjoyed it.

  The vast majority of JWs hate it. Perhaps a minority enjoy it. I had a relative who did, but he was very outgoing and sociable. Householders liked him and his personality drew dozens into the organization.
