Looking back,"That was crazy, moment"
by MarkofCane ini got baptized later in life.
i was around 21, i had left and went out into the world should of listen to my gut back then, but instead i disowned myself and came back into the fold.
before i could get baptized, the elder who studied with me said i needed to get rid of everything that was contaminated by this world: music, books & clothing, everything.

we are pleased to inform you that a new series of short videos will be produced to emphasize the acceleration of the worldwide work of jehovah’s witnesses.

Again, I see Isaiah 60:22 applied to the "acceleration of the worldwide work" rather than in former times the increases in average publishers. Busy work may be increasing, but it doesn't yield any results of people coming in.

Article: "JWs door to door pamphlets are actually alright." Journalist's mistakes corrected in Comments by XJWs. Read his reaction.

jehovah's witness door to door pamphlets are actually alright.
and their religion isn't that bad either.

This is what is misleading about cults: outsider doctrine vs insider doctrine.
Outsider doctrine is very benign by nature. People are easily seduced by it.
I agree with one comment which told the writer to go back to journalism school!

Who am I? - How to find the well lived life after undue influence
by Luther bertrand ini was added fairly recently to the aawa network (thank you richard e. kelly ) and have been a lurker/fader for many years.
the ex-jw community, from a far, has offered me so many ways to help go through my own thinking while awakening and working through my own crisis of conscience.
however, i do have a critique of our community.

Exactly where is the expansion?
by NeverKnew inthere is a thread that i'm really enjoying discussing the consolidation of congregations into existing kingdom halls.
i'm realizing that the only threads that have spoken of building were related to branch offices.
we know the wts's consolidations and reopening a are a shell game of sorts but i'm wondering... is anyone seeing an increase in kingdom halls in their part of the world?

"Between 1920 and Rutherford’s death in 1942, the organization grew to include millions of followers worldwide."
Just to nitpick...this point is not quite accurate.

I don’t detest JWs. I used to be one, so I know their mindset. One cannot detest a blind person for not being able to see. I was once blind myself.
That said, I view most as unhealthy “association” in their current state and for my own mental and emotional health believe it is best for me to keep my proximity to them at a minimum. It is the unloving organization I detest, not the individuals caught within it.

Spokane 2016 Convention dates - "darkest weekend"
by OrphanCrow ini came across an odd remark concerning the booking of a jw convention in an article from spokane.. visit spokane’s cheryl kilday: meeting expectations.
since cheryl kilday returned to the northwest 5 1/2 years ago, the spokane convention center has been expanded, a 750-room hotel has opened across from it, and a number of smaller investments have added dining and shopping options in the city’s core.
all of the changes have added options or improved the pitch for spokane for kilday, who as the president and ceo of visit spokane heads up the organization tasked with bringing more people and events to town.

Rather than regional convention, it should be called Guiltfest. And it is indeed a dark time anything there is a Guiltfest.
But as a JW, you can only say, "That was the best convention ever!"
Queue the ‘spontaneous’ applause!
