As far as I see it, Adam was created with free will just like all of us. God just told him he could eat everything in the garden and enjoy its beauty, but told him from the tree of life he couldn't touch it or take any thing from it for if you do positively will die. God was stating a fact. All I see here is God explaining to Adam the conditions in which to live his life. But there is something you can't do, you can't touch the tree in the middle of the garden. Very simple, really. Where is the Ultimatum in that? It is a simple instruction how difficult could it be? He has all the other trees and vegetation he had no need to seek out that tree. He had free will to do as he pleased with in God's paradise earth. But he screwed it up when his wife Eve became mesmerized by the serpent and so she ate and then later convinced her husband to give up his free will freely without hesitation and partake freely and willingly of that fruit. It was at that point when Adam realized what he had done with his freedom, he had just lost it ashamed of his nakedness and his wife feeling the same way covered themselves with fig leaves and hid from God , When God spoke out Adam Adam where are you and then he answered God and told God what he and Eve had done he immediately blamed that women you gave me she is the one who is a fault. But God didn't accept that lame excuse, I mean they had free will to choose and they chose the to disobey and it was the act of disobedience to the law of God they they ultimately had to pay the price of leaving the garden of Eden and that Eve women well her birth pains would increase greatly and her husband would have to till the ground with the sweat of his brow and thorns and thistles will grow and you will die. And so God placed an angel with a sword that guarded the entrance to that beautiful paradise and don't you think for one moment they didn't cry streams of tears for their outright choice of disobedience. It was the that out right act of disobedience that resulted in the loss of free will and imposed the consequences for their deliberate act of disobedience. You see they were perfect they made the choice as a perfect man and women. The ultimate price was paid they had more children but they died with in that day or that 1000 years. I hope you understand what it is I am trying to present here. I don't believe for one minute God predestined Adam. Adam's actions were evident in the fact that he and his wife hid because of their guilt and shame. They immediately thought that nakedness was shameful and yet naked bodies are beautiful. That serpent the Devil knew how to mess with Eve's mind. She messed with Adam's mind and that was the end for all of them. Today we live in misery because of their single act of outright disobedience to God, just think what it would be like had they not disobeyed God? I believe that God can allow circumstances to crop up and present themselves when we least expect or they happen and we don't even realize it was or is happening. We are free moral human beings endowed with that free will. Job proved to God that despite the Devil a man who wasn't perfect could be faithful to God no matter what Satan did to him. God blessed Job many many times over for his obedience and humility and had he not been remained faithful to God was their and ultimatum for him? For Jesus was their an ultimatum for him too? Know any cases from platform or audience of "apostate" remarks?
by Gregor insince leaving, one of my fantasies (after hours on the platform in the old days) is making a well planned statement, starting out subtle and building it into an outright expose of wt doctrine.
it would have to be a specific subject, (1914 generation would be good) to keep it consise and simple.
i have seen a couple of "crackpot" situations where somebody yelled from the audience, but nothing very effective.

That doesn't sound right at all. Since when does a congregation read a letter someone writes about themselves to the congregation sounds just to bizarre to me. and I am just a cat Orangefatcat

I think if a Poll was taken as to how many people like being JW's I bet you anything more than half of the JW's would like to leave the organizaiton because the Society expects far to much from individuals. GB members couldn't possibly imagine what it is like to have a family and a full time job and then preparing for meetings studing with the kids book study servicemeeting and Theocratic School and Public Talk and WTS. That is a huge amount of work of any one and especially for a married man with a family to support. Now we know why they age quicker. It's the pressure that is placed on them by the organizaiton and CO. and DO.
A person can only do so much and then they either break down or just go through the motions and become like robots and yesbots.
It is a pity and it is very difficult on marriages. My mom use to get so angry at my father when he said he had a late meeting or he had to go to a shepherding call or this or that and my mom would just sometimes blow a gasket. I didn't blame her he was out more then he was home. That is no marriage and it is not even being balanced.
The load of a JW is budensome. Yet Jesus said his yoke is light , So something is wrong in the organization that makes its people feel burdened down and extremely tired and many are fed up and are leaving in droves.
When will the WTBTS GB stop and smell the coffee they have no concept of what it is like for a person living in this world , as they get to live in their glass tower protected and fed and clothed and live in luxury with absoultley no worries what so ever they should be forced to live like the average person in a congregation with a family and try to provide for their family and a job and meetings and talks and preperation for all activities spiritual and non spiritual. Like family fun. They have no idea what that is like what so ever.
The chains of the WTS are like a heavy anchor pulling you down under the waters of the ocean floor never to resurface until it is too late for rescue.

So like what was this so called event in 2007 all about, I didn't hear anything about it.
I have expressed my thoughts on this before I firmly believe that the great tribulation already occoured in 70 AD when Jersusalem was destroy by the Roman General Titus . That destruction was the worst that the world had ever seen at that time. and I don't think that it is applicable in this modern day.
I think that man will end up either destroying the planet or they will retore the planet. I have no fear either if there is a battle of Armageddon. Because I have lived my life day to day as best I know how and if God deems me righteous or not it is up to him and if I have messed up then I will just disappear forever.

I am not that difficult to shop for, because I know there are three things that are on my wish list for Christmas and any of these would make me happy , a book pertaining to the History of the Early Church Fathers or the first four century of the early Church, or a wooden Cruxifix for my wall, or a really beautiful Christmas CD.
But anything will be a blessing indeed.

Hi, I'm new
by Diva inhi, this is my first post but ive been lurking around this discussion board for some time now.
my husband (the borg) occasionally posts and i had the pleasure of meeting some great people at the apostofest in covent garden, london last year arranged by bestie and sweetpea , hi to you both and hi to freetothink, mr majestic and everyone that was there hope youre all ok.. my story in a nutshell: raised a jw from birth, my whole family, expect one brother and sister (disfellowshipped) are still jws - basically i was raised in a family who were considered one of the pillars of the congregation, we all pioneered and did the whole witness thing, in fact one of my sisters is a missionary.
my whole jw world crumbled when i learnt about the jw/un connection and from that moment on there was no turning back.
